One article I read about this suggested he worked for the airline....I wonder if they meant he works for Air New Zealand?

Apparently, there was a medical emergency on the flight occurring at the same time. So, they diverted for that and had him removed as well.

http://www.denverpost.com/nationworld/ci_12734157

"Wright had been seen dancing in a crowded boarding area before the flight, but when approached by Flight Service Supervisor Claudia Kearney, he told her he had drunk one beer. Kearney told the FBI she did not smell alcohol on him and determined he was well enough to travel, the complaint said."

I think she should have talked to him a bit more, but I understand she was probably very busy.

my colleague was on this flight in first, he said the whole drama resulted in a few pax leaving the flight with stress and heart complaints. the FAs were professional and did their best to try and get the man under control, but in the end they had no option but to restrain him and land. apparently the guy was taken across the tarmac still naked.

Some people have issues themselves!!! What is so stressful as to cause heart problems in this situation? So he stripped...big deal - land, arrest him, and throw him in the booby hatch. Aren't they going to sue US for therapy?

...and a lawsuit coming on as DAL763ER suggested. I bet was the first thing on a few people's minds sadly.

The guy must be a sandwich short of a picnic to do something like that.

Being naked in a plane is not appropriate, but jeez, its just a naked person. Why all the drama?

Agreed! Why would a guy doing a strip tease cause anyone "stress and heart complaints"? This shouldn't have been stressful. A guy trying to kill all the pax would be stressful, this is just a nuisance.

This guy resembles that idiot from the Red Hot Chili Peppers that likes to perform nude. Personally I would prefer that airline passengers and rock stars keep their clothes on.

WHY were pictures of this guy even taken?

Was he traveling with a photographer?

As in most incidents, this was clearly pilot error. He must have had the air conditioning too high!

I believe it is all due to the "sue everybody you can" syndrome atmosphere in the U.S. This is just ripe for a lawyer to come and get a class action started. BTW I think that the seats not just in that row need to be burned but also any surrounding seats as well.

confused  that would make the cabin too cold to disrobe.

No kidding, that's probably WHAT happened; my photographer reference was stated in jest. I'm just asking WHY BOTHER to take a pic.?

I'm sure the real reason was for money from newspapers and websites that publish the photos but still... taking pictures of nude guys (although the photos don't show anything obscene) is not something worth bragging about.

Quoting DAL763ER (Reply 18):

Not everyone carries cameras anymore and people keep their cell phones (though turned off while in flight) on their person.
