Hey my dutch neighbors and those in the know,

I am searching for some information regarding the M11 fleet of KLM.

What is the future timeline for outphasing of the aircraft? Any additional info is appreciated, like MRO provider for engines, components and so on.

Thanks, if anyone has some information specially about the phase out.

I think the MD-11's are staying in the fleet until 2012, but that may have changed.

KL recently did a cabin overhaul on their 10 MD's, there is now PTV's in Eco and the new WBC seats.

As far as I know they will still be in the fleet for some years, as mentioned they have been refurbished on the inside.
1 of them will be leant out to Kenya Airways soon for a couple of months.

Zanair flight, please hold on finals as we have to clear rhino's off the runway. Next flight KUL-FRA-AMS Flown in A319,A

My little sister flew on a couple of them (YUL-AMS and back) for her first trip to Europe last month. I was quite jealous as I've never been on an MD-11, and am not likely to do so now. in fact, the daily KL MD-11 is pretty much the highlight for spotters in Montreal! I certainly hope we keep KL here - there is talk that YUL might be dropped because AF already has so much capacity here.

Anyway, she did say it was a nice and comfortable cabin, good PTV's, and everything. She's not the most experienced traveller, but it's nice to know that these planes are generally 'up to standard' and hopefully will be useful for KL for the next few years.

Next flight.... who knows.
