With the supposed vast numbers of people heading to LA for the funeral/memorial, has any airline scheduled any charter flights or increased capacity temporarily for this event?

I haven't heard of any.
That said, I would hope that folks would think twice about going. If the 700,000+ folks they expect to show up do, and considering that there are only a very limited number of tickets (11,000 @ Staples, another 6,000 @ Nokia) available via a lottery-system, there are some adverse potentials related to crowd control. Like some soccer matches that get out of control, it wouldn't take much for some folks to get hurt (or worse), especially if some of the ones that didn't get tickets get rowdy, or try and crash the event. Toss in some warm temps, and it could be a real zoo.

Already working on private aircraft charters for attendees going the funeral. But will be more interesting when the tickets are issued late Sunday morning via the internet.

I figured the private aircraft would already be in the works. I wonder how many Gulfstreams/Lears will be arriving at LAX or surrounding area in the next few days. I imagine there will be some charter aircraft coming from Japan due to the enormous popularity over there as well.

Why would anyone want to waste money to go to a superstar's funeral with the reasons that OPNL suggested above.
Personally, I wouldn't. I do not mean any disrespect but I have better things to do with my money and my time. Besides, getting into any of these memorial services is a snowballs chance in hell.

Last count I heard, 12 people have committed suicide over his death. To some, celebrities are everything. When people crush each other to get to front row seats at concerts, mass flights to see his funeral are pretty mild.

Well, yeah, but then again, you're assuming that all 700,000 expected to attend are going to act rationally, which is a rather large assumption.
I don't see any airlines adding extra flights or up-sizing equipment, but I'm sure the bizjet traffic going into the SoCal satellite airports and carrying all the bee-yoot-i-ful people will increase...

I thought Virgin America carried all the beautiful people now!

I would presume a number (probably a couple hundred) of music preformers, entertainment executives, media big guns and invited guests from outside the SoCal area will be flying in with he biggies using biz jets (like Sony, which bases it a/c's at TEB for the NYC area). Hopefully there will be some sharing of a/c to reduce wasteful travel.

Celebrities never share private jets... That would reduce their image. I wonder if anyone could put together a list of stuff coming into Van Nuys that normally wouldn't. Not sure if anyone would want to though.
Here is the list given by the source above for arrival airports.
