Looks like the Charter companies are preparing for a rocky winter.
We had our wedding booked with Air Transat for January 28, 2010 in Varadero, well we got a call last week and TS dropped that flight on the Thursday, SkyService is operating it... not that I have a problem with SSV, we flew TS last year in Club Class and if I am paying a good buck, I would like it again, we have moved to the 29 now in hopes of TS!
The agents says there is a lot of consolidation going on...., if there were say 5 flights last year by the usual carriers, this year there might be 2 or 3. Should be interesting.... looks like there will be some great deals....

Yeah an interesting year for the entire holiday/charter market. What may help a lot of carriers will be Olympic work in/out of YVR and YXX.
On a side note, I've seen a Flair Air 737 operate from YVR's north side the last two days does anyone know who they are flying for over there? I also saw an Enerjet machine but I believe they are flying for TS, is Flair doing the same?

Quoting YXXMIKE (Reply 3): I always thought those went out of the Shell Aerocentre?
On Wednesday it unloaded at Shell then went over to the A gates. Yesterday it operated between YLW, YYJ & YQQ ex YVR - these sound like cadet flights to me (though the Wednesday pax at Shell werent cadets, they were more likely oil & gas guys).

Yes, though a quick check on Canadian Affair for February currently shows the usual weekly flight on a Thursday YVR - LGW for example and on TCX metal.
As TS have picked up an extra A333 from Dragonair, its interesting what they are planning to do if they are cutting down on Caribbean flying and subbing some out to Enerjet. Maybe some A310's will be parked.
For the Olympics, from Europe I suspect there will be one off charters operated by the likes of Iberworld, Luzair, Corsair, Neos etc as well as upgauges on the regular LH & KL flights.
