Today the "new" ERJ 135 was rolled out of the Republic Hangar in CMH enroute to IND. It is an ex-Delta Connection CRJ, has the blue seats that are in excellent to new shape, new carpeting and still has the familiar Delta dark blue and white stripe bulkhead.

here is a link to the pics:

A couple of the pics are of the E170 (N824MD) getting a C-Check

I didn't realise Chautauqua was operating as Midwest Connect.

I can't keep all the bits of the Republic empire sorted out in my head. So many pieces.

BTW... where is the E-190 for MKE - LAX being prepared? I would think it is in a hanger getting ready right now for the August 1st inaugral flight to LAX.

The E190 will be in the Republic Hangar in CMH, then go to MKE. Initially one will be in CMH as a spare for the first couple weeks, then it will be entered into service. Eventually the E190 will have MX in MKE.

It should be coming soon.. I'll try to get some pics when it arrives

Wouldn't BNA and Embraer there be a better place at the start of things?? Republic already sends some fo their planes down there for work as it is.

As much as this entire RP-YX thing has many many (including myself) people up in arms, I think the YX scheme looks rather good on the E-135. Perhaps because it looks like mini MD. The YX scheme was born for the T-tails it seems.

I agree about the livery, but I'm not sure why you are "up in arms." The alternative to Republic was not pleasant to contemplate.

I saw this smart-looking bird sitting out on the east pad here in CMH yesterday. I'm glad they've painted the 135s in the Midwest livery as opposed to opperating them in the horrid house scheme (white fuselage with blue tail and no lettering).

Fair enough, indeed. It is nice to see YX survive, in one way or another, but I guess it's the loss of their bigger airplanes, like the 712, is not the easiest thing to see. Perhaps I am not as adaptable to change. Either way, it shall be good to see the blue gracing the Midwest skies.

Wow! I was hoping to have the E90 back in CMH one way or another! Do you have a timeframe for which the E90 is supposed to arrive in CMH?

The Midwest livery has imagination... Unlike the italic "a" on the tail of FL planes. A lot of people have no idea the logo on the tail is from the Milwaukee Art Museum that Calatrava designed.

Why the 135? Why didn't they go after the 145? There is a negligible difference in operating costs.

We are getting both the 135 & 145. A 140 that American is giving back will be painted solid blue and will be used as a spare.

Is it? From aviateur's column (if this is too long a quote, mods can erase the quote and leave the link)

http://dir.salon.com/story/tech/col/...05/07/29/askthepilot147/print.html

begin quote:

Quote:

"Many believe the trademark is taken from the glass and steel architecture of the Milwaukee Art Museum's new Quadracci Pavilion. Not so, claims Jim Marx, Midwest Airlines' art director, on the phone from Milwaukee. "It's more complicated than that." As I assumed, though I wasn't quite prepared for Marx's deconstruction:

"What we have are two wings," he explains, "with the letter M cradled between them. On the foreground wing you see 16 'energy lines,' as we called them, which are a testament to our company's enthusiasm. Behind it, the more solid wing is meant to echo our strength and durability. In the center rests the M, brushed by a 'touch line' that emphasizes Midwest's attention to customer care."

Marx says the full Midwest Airlines identity, developed in cooperation with noted designer Roger Van den Bergh (additionally responsible for Continental's latest look), took more than 15 months to fine-tune. Presumably that was one month to concoct the actual design, and 14 months to psychoanalyze it.

"We realize people think it's the Quadracci," Marx adds. "That wasn't intentional, but we don't mind the association. It's a beautiful place." "

- End quote
