A while back, to many people's disappointment, AA removed the last 763 from the LAX/HNL routing, making the route 4x 757. For a short time AA283/284 will revert to being a 763. Where did this bird come from? They took it off to move to Europe/S America/Caribbean. I'm guessing they're placing it to HNL seasonally between taking them off seasonal European routes and deploying them to the Caribbean?
Interestingly, the LAX-HNL segment shows:
A31 8:30a/11:10a 757
AA283 10:30a/1:10p 763
AA297 4:55p/7:40p 757 (eff. Aug. 25)
AA297 5:08p/7:50p 757 (disc. Aug. 24)
AA267 6:30p/9:14p 757 (except 8/25-26, 9/1-2, 9/8-9)
Did they misplace the except dates because how can it be a 757 to Hawaii and 763 out of Hawaii that is not operated on those dates?
Any idea when the 763 will be off the route again?
I booked my flight on AA270 on 8/17 because all were on the 757. I upgrade on the route for the space although I detest the 757 F cabin, choosing the 763 when I can. Now, I wish I had waited to book my ticket so I could've taken AA284.
I'm assuming the new timetable will show all 4 flights reverting to 757?

I can tell you that our SAN-JFK r/t is being d/g on 8/01/09 from a 763 to a 757; you didn't include the date of the schedule you quoted so I don't know if SAN's loss is LAX-HNL's gain or not but maybe...?

No, the except dates are OK. The missing detail is that AA283 will be a 757 (not a 763) on those same dates only, so there will be no 763’s on LAX-HNL in either direction.

The last 763 on LAX-HNL-LAX will be August 24th.

Yes, LAX-HNL will be 4x daily 757 for the winter.

There is a very big shake-up of AA’s 763 schedule happening at the moment, with many routes either gaining or losing them. This is because of the A300 retirement and the downgrading of a number of Atlantic routes to 757’s.
The spare 763 probably came from JFK-CDG, which has just been downgraded to a 757, and will probably go to Miami for MIA-PAP/GUA/SDQ/SJO/GYE/BOG etc. at the end of August when the A300’s leave.

MIA-GUA will not be on 763; the A300 retirement will cause MIA-GUA to get an extra daily rotation for (3) 738s per day, no widebody. The same will happen with PTY; 3 daily rotations all 737/757.

Hopefully AA will realize SJU needs some 763 flights during high season. After Aug. 24, 2009, no more AA widebody service to/from SJU. AWFUL!!! I guess AA 763 capacity is tight and will be concentrated on markets with less flights and in need of baggage/cargo capacity. SJU has plenty of frequency especially to MIA, I guess that is why there are no plans for 763s to SJU, for now...

I flew LAX/HNL/LAX in Feb/March on AA's 757's, I also prefer widebody aircraft for any flight over 5 hours, it makes you arrive in better shape, just the feeling of more space. Welcome back 767's...!
