I'm showing all 10 GSO-ATL flights on either CRJ or CRJ7 eff. 9/1....no mainline.

According to personnel at the GSO station, this is a seasonal change and they expect at least 1 maybe 2 mainline flights to return by the end of the year. Let's hope that is what really happens.

Well, they still fly mainline metal into there for mods don't they?

slightly off topic, do they still have the MEM-GSO flight? I can't remember if that was being dropped or if it was GSP-MEM.

Luckily I'm in and out on one of the last MD88 flights to GSO next week.
I hate it when there are no mainline or at least CR9 flights on DL (no uprade opportunity). SDF is barely mainline with DL though we do get the E175 from NW to each station in the morning and these have 1st class.

MEM-GSO is still alive, but MEM-GSP is no more. Gotta push more pax through ATL, you know.

Well let's hope they bring it back...
I mean this will be the 1st time since the early 1960's that
Greensboro/High Point/Winston-Salem (pop. 1.6 million) will not be served by ANY mainline jets from any of our legacy carriers. If it were not for Allegiant, GSO would be served entirely by RJ's. I guess RDU just sucked us dry, or our Piedmont Triad Airport Authority is too pre-occupied with FX to care. Or maybe it's a little of both. Will always be a mystery to me.

DL has pulled mainline from GSO several times in the past. This has been some what common.

I think you need to look southwest, not east. I bet CLT has lower fares than it has ever had, and it's now easier to get to CLT from many places to the north and east of Charlotte than it has ever been. RDU hasn't changed that drastically.

Sad, isn't it?
I used GSO and INT (Smith Reynolds Airport in Winston-Salem) extensively when I lived in Winston-Salem 1989-1996.
In those days there were many, many USAir mainline flights out of GSO, USAir Express from INT, and a good number of DL mainline flights to ATL from GSO. There were even UA mainline flights to ORD and Dulles.
And remember CO's Cal Lite hub at GSO during the mid-1990s?

Very true. Heck, recently I had a friend fly out of ROA because it was cheaper.

How things have changed!
Also used to be AA MD-80's to DFW, RDU, and FAY, and NW DC-9's to DTW at one time too. And back in the day we at one time had Piedmont, Eastern, PEOPLExpress, Eastwind, Skybus, and Ozark all using "big" jets. Now we have an airport with 20 some jetways and no big jets to use them, lol. (well i guess they are using some of them for the CRJ's now but its not the same).
Very sad indeed. At least we have G4.
Maybe WN, B6, or FL will come in one day.

As recently as around late 2007/early 2008 Delta ran 3 or 4 mainline MD80's a day to ATL out of SDF, with a daily 738 mixed in up until then.
Of course back in the 90's ATL-SDF was pretty much all 727's, MD80's and 732's.
