Hmm, a lot of missunderstandings here, right?
Aeroplanefreak is right - after dreamliners one and the ANA 787 it's definitly a new kid on the block. Just compare the picture given in the link above with the pictures of dreamliner one:

Maybe ZA005 with GEnx engines - hence a different livery?

Quoting CHRISBA777ER (Reply 11): LOL so i was the one who noted the subtle changes in the 787 livery but then mistook the 767 for a 772LRF lol
Well I hard time to see if this is a 767-200 or 767-300 because the aircraft looked so short in comparison with the 787 and 77W in the background......

Looks like it's N787FT. View from the other side here.

I believe you're right, ZA005 went into the paint hangar on the 9th of July.
And the same day ZA006 went to Building 40-24 on the 767 line, according to Flightblogger. ZA004 is still at the FAL, along with ZA100 and soon to be joined there by ZA101.
Just not sure where ZA003 went, perhaps to the 767 line as well?
All these moves make me slightly optimistic that the fix to the wings may not be that drastic a design change and consequently a delay as predicted by some. We may still see a number of 787's in the air somewhere in Q4. Hopefully Boeing will announce some trustworthy news soon.

What a a terrible looking livery. I for another airline's color to show up, a la ANA. I understand they wanted to paint it in a "Boeing livery", but why not in the "famous-ultra publicized" Dreamliner livery 787 1 wears?

It looks like a "for now" livery to go through the tests. If the prototypes get sold as VIP aircraft for example they will obviously be repainted. Same if some airline decides to go for them. Originally I liked Flightblogger's idea of using retro liveries for the test fleet, however that would probably be pretty expensive. And "low key" seems best at this point, at least until fixes are in place and the program leaves the troubles behind.

If you look at the FAA database for N-number registrations, there is a serial number field.
Here is the mapping of serial numbers to registrations.
40690 is N787BA
40691 is N787EX
40692 is N787BX
40693 is N7874
40694 is N787FT
40695 is N787ZA
Ergo, one could deduce that this aircraft ( N787FT ) is ZA005 and that ZA006 will be N787ZA.
Jon had already disclosed the registrations for ZA003 and ZA004 in his July 3rd blog entry.

I have to agree, with all the set backs, a change in looks might be in order, like what airlines sometimes do.
I can't see the the entire plane from the pictures, but it looks like it might be a variation of the Dreamlifter livery.

Interesting... earlier cns 34488 and 34489 (ANA), 34636 and 34638 (NW) 35507 and 35508 (RAM) were quoted.
Also the after l/n 6, l/n 7 would be the first ANA production machine, JA801A (34490). Is that one now ZA100? Will it get a new c/n too? Will they skip 7 to 99?
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?
25 Stitch: Boeing has re-sequenced all the production bird assignments, starting with ZA100. So ZA007-ZA099 will not be used.
26 LHRSpotter: I think he meant the one in the middle with 787 on the tail.
27 Brendows: I believe it's still on one of the slant positions on the 747 FAL.
28 Dragon6172: I can not help but chuckle at this. The OP asks about a 787, posts a picture link that clearly has a plane with the vertical tail emblazoned with "78
29 MCIGuy: IMO, there's no such thing as 'trustworthy news" from Boeing anymore. I don't believe a word they say.
30 Nycbjr: Jon has some better pics.. http://www.flightglobal.com/blogs/fl...nveiled-za005-leaves-the-pain.html euro white Boeing style
31 Zhutton: Ooooh, that looks sexy, and that's a very smart & simple livery, miles better that the blue dreamliner one, ans is it me or is the APU exhaust cone v
32 MCIGuy: So why the new look? Is it: 1: Trying to signify a "rebirth" of the program. 2: The first jet with GE engines. 3: Going to eventually carry a customer
33 Tdscanuck: I wouldn't go so far as terrible...just kind of boring. Probably not good protocol to slap a customer's livery on a plane they won't be receiving. I
34 SurfandSnow: What ever happened to those proposed Horizon Air flights out of Paine Field?? I'm assuming they met as much support as Southwest's proposal to leave S
35 Tdscanuck: Not happening anytime soon...the neighbors got restless. Not quite that bad, and not barred by government fiat as the SWA deal now is, but definitely
36 Rsg85: This was a reply in regards to post number 2, the 787 tail stood out like dogs balls.
37 Starglider: Or perhaps, looking at the registration N787FT and the color of the vertical stabilizer, Flying Tigers are back in business Starglider
38 Zhutton: Or N787FT could be.. N- USA 787- A/C FT- Flight Test Zakk
