Zonguldak Turkey; a small city with 600,000 population opens its airport. The city is 240km. ENE of SAW, and 175 WNW of ESB. I have no idea if there will be any domestic traffic in the near future. Also worth mentioning that this is a city with the least population increase in all of Turkey. It might be hard to keep this airport busy while the people leaving the city. But today Germania flew in with 138 pax, and the locals rushed to see the plane. Maybe some future spotters among the crowd.

Quoting SW733 (Reply 1): How did people get there before? Rail connections, or just road? Or is this a brand new area as far as resorts go, trying to get their name on the map (assuming that's what it is geared towards)?
Some rail service, mostly local and to Ankara, but most people use highways for transportation. Not really a resort area. It is mostly known for its coal mines.
