I was at Honolulu airport today and saw a Air China 737-800. Is this a regular flight? Do they always operate the 737 and if so does it continue to the mainland?

No. It is most likely a ferry flight. HNL is a common stop for short or medium range aircraft transiting to or from Asia or the South Pacific.

There used to be a regular thread in civil-av called "Honolulu Rare Birds", about short range aircraft ferrying trans-pacific and stopping in HNL, however, it became so routine that it annoyed many a.net members, and it turns out that new aircraft ferrying transpac aren't so rare after all  Wink

Agree with BMI727. There aren't any scheduled flights of CA from China to Hawaii.
