What is your home airport (i.e the airport closest to your home). Is it growing/expanding? Which new services have you gained, and or the services that have been lost? Which major issues affect the future of the airport in question?
Mine being Montreal-Dorval/Montreal-Mirabel are constantly over-shadowed by Toronto LEster B. Pearson, approximately 500 miles south-west of Montreal. Furthermore, the constant threat of separation has had it's toll on a city that once was the metropolis of Canada.
We are stuck with a incompetant and very unorganized airport administration known as les Aeroports de Montreal. Dorval airport, handling 8.5 of Montreal's 10 million pax, is old, and inadequate for any major hubbing ,and or growth. ADM had embarked in a magnificent 1.3 billion dollar, canadian that is , that would change the face of this airport for the better.....ADM has apparently run out of financial possibilties and could be cutting down the project to $180-$250 million...
For the record, nearby YYZ's expansion project is estimated at 4.3 billion dollars...how can we even breathe when Toronto's building for a magnificent future?

Pune is a booming city with a local population of over 6 million. Average income is much higher than the national average. It is mainly an educational centre with students from over 142 countries coming here to study. There is a large "foreign" community here with Thai, Nigerian,German and Japanese people being the maximum. Recently Pune has become the place of choice for Software companies as well.
Considering all this, pune is woefully underserved. There are around 5 flights (3 73G, 1 ATR72 and 1 A320) to nearby BOM Flying time <30 minutes. 2xDaily flights to BLR, MAA and DEL each using 737-800s and A320. Then there are commuter flights using Beech 1900D/Dornier to various smaller cities.
The IAF has provided a teensy-weensy civilian apron that can hold just 3 A320 and 3 Dornier sized aircraft at a time. Also the larger runway capable of handling even An124's is not open to civilians, and only the smaller RWY02 is open for civilian flights that too at restricted hours only. Rwy02 can barely handle aircraft larger than the A320, though a local carrier did operate "proving flights" with A300's.
A foreign carrier wanted to operate daily freighters from Pune to Amsterdam, but this was disallowed by the Air Force.
There is a proposal to construct a new airport to be run by the Municipality, but as with most things in India, this plan too has become a victim of party-politics.

Sydney Airport was greatly upgraded for the Olympics last year and I think the terminal facilities are adequate for the time being at least. Both Ansett and Qantas have upgraded their domestic terminals as well and we have the new Domestic Express terminal used by Impulse and Virgin Blue. Quite recently we lost KLM in Sydney who now code share with Malaysian to KLI.
I would love to see an observation deck where you can see all the gates from as well as the runways. The original obsevation deck is still there but you can't see anything at all. The new ones are behind Glass with a limited view.

BOS and MHT are my airports. I was at BOS yesterday after flying N670DN from ATL. BOS is a major construction zone, with Terminals E and B being redone, and Delta rebuilding Terminal A. MHT has a new terminal (a few years old) and is adding 8 more jetways in the next 5-10 years.

However, local opposition to noise pollution from these aircraft will delay if not nullify this proposal. Hopefully Amtrak will increase the number of Acela trains running through town to New York, Providence, and Boston.
(SAN) There are also proposals to expand San Diego's Lindbergh Field with a new terminal on the north side. The airport's master plan includes construction of a second runway pending the purchase of land from the military, who have a training center next to the airport. Better yet would be to relocate the entire facility. Use the search function to read all the issues surrounding expansion and relocation of San Diego's airport. Take a look at my username and you will realize that my home airport is GOT, Gothenburg Landvetter Airport. It's not a very big airport but we have 4 million pax/year and services to most big cities in Europe and, thank God, an observation deck.
At the time the area for parked aircrafts is being expanded, for the EU people when they come in June, and of course for Air Force One .
The terminal is also being expanded to handle 6 million passengers. I think that's all.
Just like birdwatching - without having to be so damned quiet!

Mine is Edinburgh, Scotland (EGPH). It was originally designed to serve the capital city of Scotland and the small passenger terminal was located along side the RAF base, Turnhouse(now closed). In the mid seventies a new terminal and runway was built opposite the old one (runway 07/25 as was - redesignated 06/24 a couple of years ago) and it started to attract more passenger operations. Just a couple of months ago the latest phase of a massive multi million pound redevelopment was completed with the opening of an upgraded international arrivals lounge. Since the creation of the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh a couple of years ago business has been booming and EGPH is now on track to have the highest number of passengers per year of any airport in Scotland. We also have, as far as I believe, one of the biggest increases in passenger numbers of any UK airport over the last year or so.
The airlines using EGPH are mainly domestic, BA, BMI, Easyjet flying 757's, A320's, 737's. There is a large cargo facility with daily visits from DHL, Channel Express (hence the Channex !!) and a host of other carriers. Unfortunately very few scheduled international flights (Crossair to name but one) though quite a few holiday charters. There is however talk of a possible scheduled service to the US (Delta I think) starting later this year.

The only major expansion being planned is the fifth terminal,but there is always some sort of expansion/construction going on,which is why it's such a disorganised place.

My home airport is Columbia Metropolitan Airport, about 5 miles from Lexington, SC. A few years ago, they renovated the runways so that a 747 could land there, and they also renovated the terminals. Delta flys mainly MD-88s to Columbia, and occasionally 737s, and in emergencies, they have flown in L1011s, etc. USAir flys in 737s and little props (commuters). I think that United used to fly there, but I am not sure if they still do, or if they ever did, and FEDEX and UPS fly in cargo aircraft of almost every type.

America West downgraded an A319 to a CRJ on their Columbus-Boston route, they also downgraded 2 daily nonstop A320/A319 flights to CRJ's.
United Airlines will downgrade two 757-200 flights to 727-200/737-300 flights.
Concourse C at Port Columbus will be expanded from 5 to 10 gates. Construction will begin in May. In addition to this expansion, the international gate will be expanded and a new taxiway bridge will be built over Sawyer Rd.
Concourse A will be expanded from 7 to 9 gates. The date for the start of gate reconfiguration has not been determined.
A new 224 ft. control tower and radar facility will begin construction in May. The facility will replace the current tower, which is 110 ft. tall.
A new parallel taxiway is being built for the airport's 8,000 ft. north runway. The taxiway will be 5,800 ft. long.

The closest airport to me is Burke Lake Front it is more of an FBO than a commercial airport. The airport commercial closest to me is Cleveland Hopkins International airport. Right now the city plans to buy the IX center demolish it, demolish about 300 houses in Brooklyn to make way for a new runway.

the thing is...this new concourse won't help at all with expansion. before we had this huge ramp space with 2 jetways.. now we will have LESS ramp space with still a measly 2 jetways. the sheer incompetency of airport director john hanlin simply amazes me...
we just recently (back in september) got NW airlink service to MEM 3 times daily...from what i hear these flights are doing good and they may start with the '146s sometime (but not before i fly on one!). also a long time ago...when piedmont was still around we had TONS of flights a day (i guess we were a mini-hub)...we had piedmont 727s, 737s, YS-11s and the like. we also had AA service with their 727s..and even Delta with DC-9s and 727s...later down to 737-200s and then dropped it which left ASA which btw, is one Ass-Sucking Airline...if you want to know why i bash ASA so much then just ask me or e-mail me or something. hopefully new service will include a couple Delta flights a day to ATL and American Eagle flights to DFW on ERJ-135s. that would be a tremendous relief and i could non-rev down there easily! right now the biggest a/c we get is the US Airways F100 from CLT...and also the 2 nightly Airborne Express DC-9-41s. the biggest we've had is Air Force One about 3 years ago.

The new services we got are the new CO 764 to EWR daily, TAM got new flights to MIA and CDG daily but it stops at GRU.
We got new service of the new airlines like Gol, Nacional, BRA and Fly.
VARIG finished with almost all non-stop serives from GIG in the last years, now the only non-stops RGs are Madrid, Lisboa, Paris, Miami, Mostevideo, Buenos Aires and Rome.
