Just out on Flight Global

http://www.flightglobal.com/articles...ders-another-seven-777-300ers.html

"......Boeing says today that it has "finalised" an order for another seven, adding that the deal is "further confirmation of Turkish Airlines' plans for international expansion".

They are really going for this expansion big time. Good news for Boeing, and Turkish if they can pull it off

So that makes it 12 77Ws.

How long are the 9W 77W leases?

I will now not be surprised if 9W offer TK a sweet deal to take on the 4 B 77Ws that GF will be returning back to 9W in late November.

Amazing how they are expanding. Agree that it's very good news for Boeing in a moment only a few carriers are making new orders.

New York + Rio de Janeiro = One of the best combinations !

I guess they are very happy with the performance after having the 77W from 9W in their fleet

They leave summer of 2011. TK owned 77Ws start arriving Oct. 2010.
We have been discussing this at Turkish Aviation threads for some time. There are close to 100 TK pilots being trained on the type, started with the arrival of the 9W birds. TK also hired the more than a dozen international 9W pilots after the wet-lease ended.

Everyone except PK seems to be happy with the performance of the 777-LR series once they get them.

Do they fly these to JFK? I'll have to snap some pics of them in IST.

I think it is a matter of poor planning. TK leases 9W jets, then finds out they can't fly wetleased jets to JFK. Now they are in TK registration but maybe they rather use these 3 frames to far east.
12 owned 773ERS start coming in 14 months. You bet TK will fly their new birds to JFK. Can't wait.
By the way did anyone see if they are powered by GE90s?

Huh what? Boeing only offers the GE90-115B on the 77W, nothing else.
