The Cathay Pacific crew members who were detained in the Swissotel Istanbul by Chechen gunmen yesterday were all released unharmed. The 12 Cathay Pacific staff in the Swissotel were freed after the gunmen left the hotel around 4pm Hong Kong time. The staff were interviewed by police in Istanbul.

The Swissotel Istanbul is the CX crew hotel in Istanbul.

The staff who were detained included two pilots and 10 cabin crew. CX began arrangements for the staff to leave Istanbul as soon as possible. The airline managed to keep in contact with them through much of the day via an intermediary.

CX kept the family members of the crew fully informed throughout the incident and offered them every support. The airline also worked closely with the local authorities to offer every possible assistance.

CX302 HKG/IST tonight (24 April) will operate to the normal schedule. The crew will take minimum rest and operate CX301 back to Hong Kong on 25 April with a 5hr 50min delay.

Actually, I post the similar one already. may be you can do a research.

It should be a strange trip for those CX crews in Istanbul.

I also heard that Swissair crew was at the hotel at the time of action. Swissotel is part of Swiss... Group.

Oops... Jiml1126, u did! :P Sorry I didn't see it, too bad I cannot delete this msg!  Sad But anyways, still no hurt to have more information right? Big grin And by the way I guess this version is the more completed one as this is from CX's Emplyee Website. Sigh... who says FA is an easy job? They have higher risks than anyone else in the air and on the groud...
