Hey Guys,

I flew into ACY on NK the other day and upon leaving the secure area of the airport all passengers had to go through the pods out of Star Trek. Anyone know why and when these things got there?

Joe

Most likely they're in place to check arriving passengers for greenbacks since what else is there to do in ACY but hit the casino's!  duck

Can't even imagine why!

Been there about 3 months now.. obviously the reason is to keep people from going up the exit and bypassing security. They are prototypes I believe and we are the first airport to receive them. They work fine when you have only one aircraft deplaning, but 2 or more it causes a jam up. It takes some getting use to, especially on the passenger side when everybody thinks only 1 person go through at a time. On the bright side, it keeps us from having to man the exit lane at all times.

FAA Tech Center is at ACY and the aircraft is on the ramp near the FAA hanger, as well as a B727 and a few other elderly aircraft IIRC.

Can someone explain what these are/what they look like a bit more? I can't even picture what the OP is describing...

Big version: Width: 296 Height: 448 File size: 29kb

you walk in and the door behind you closes, then the door in front opens to let you out.. after that it does a self-sweep to make sure nothing was left behind before it lets the next person in. ACY has 5 of these in a row for people to leave the screened area to unscreened area.
