Effective 11/19 American Eagle will increase service to the Bahamas adding...

MIA - ELH 3x weekly
MIA - GHB 3x weekly
MIA - TCB 4x weekly

I am surprised that none of these are daily flights, but hopefully the markets will expand once they get going.

Also MIA - MHH will not be discontinued

Also on 8/25 MIA - FPO goes from 3x daily to 4x daily.

Well, with the lions share of the Bahamian population and tourist attractions on New Providence/Paradise Island (both served by NAS), the outer islands are very small markets indeed. The ATR-72 is quite a large plane to be serving such markets that probably could only support a B-1900 or EMB-120...

Weekend traffic to/from South Florida /Bahamas is significantly higher than weekdays. I can't tell from what you've posted, but I would guess these flights operate Sa/Su and one other day during the week.

I am surprised to see this discontinued yet they are going to serve other smaller out islands.

Great news for MIA though and the Bahamas MIA will now have two airlines flying MIA-ELH and I guess with getting rid of MHH they now serve TCB which is near by MHH.

Actually, it seems that Governor’s Harbour will be 4x weekly.

MHH as a destination from the US is very fickle with the economy and doesn't see the constant traffic that NAS or FPO or GHB see. I remember flying PBI-MHH back in 2000 on a US Ex DH8...it's been a constant rise/fall since then. Now all they really see from the US are the B1900's from Gulfstream and the occasional MQ AT7.

The loads will be there, most likely cargo, prices in those islands for some goods are very expensive even when coming in from Nassau, so expect cargo on those routes to be high as folk try to stretch their funds shopping in Miami.

Actually, I've just noticed that the schedule shows MIA-MHH being increased to 2x daily!

Quoting AJMIA (Thread starter):
Also on 8/25 MIA - FPO goes from 3x daily to 4x daily.

FPO also gets an additional 3 weekly flights on Mo We Fr (the days which TCB does not operate).

Based on the new schedule, American Eagle will be operating 20 daily flights from Miami to the Bahamas on most days, serving 7 cities -:

NAS: 11x daily
FPO: 4x daily + 3 weekly
MHH: 2x daily
GGT: 1x daily
GHB: 4 weekly
TCB: 4 weekly
ELH: 3 weekly

All flights are on 70-seat ATR aircraft, so that’s quite a lot of capacity!

In addition, AA operates 2 weekly DFW-NAS flights (SaSu) on mainline 738 equipment.

And give my friends in the Bahamas something different to spot!

I've always wondered why AA doesn't do this with a 737 or 757.

Are there any other islands in the Bahamas that could support AA, such as ZSA (San Salvador)?

I think if AA could work out a deal with Club Med, ZSA could support 1x or 2x week service.

Well NK already does FLL-ZSA I do not know how much more of a market there can be. But NK does only do it on Saturdays only.

The next biggest Island I can think of is New Bight CAT but it is a pretty small market there.

Logically seems like it could work but I am sure there are some reasons for it never happening.

Eagle actually already does that - or at least they used to.

Eagle flew ATRs into ZSA as part of Club Med charters for years and years - I'm not sure if they still do anymore.

When I visited ZSA in Feb 2008, the only air service was NK 1x week from FLL, WestJet 1x week from YUL, and UP from NAS 1x or 2x day.
