I was wondering, does anyone have any updates on Delta's ex-Hello MD-90s? Specifically, I would like to know when they will enter service.
I have heard these will be the first MD-90s to feature the Weber 5751 slimline seats, and will have a capacity of 160 pax. Eventually the rest of the MD-90s will get the same seats in the same configuration as well. I have also heard that DL will install both Wi-Fi and overhead video on these aircraft for consistency with the rest of the DL MD-90 fleet.
However, the Matsushita IFE system that the MD-90s currently used is no longer made. I wonder what system will DL install on the ex-Hello MD-90s. Panasonic's current overhead IFE system is known as the Digital MPES system, which is a lightweight and economical system. Of course, another alternative would be to recycle the systems that were removed from the 737-800s that got AVOD.
