United Livery - 5 Years (& Other Fleet Upgrades) (by United787 Feb 5 2009 in Civil Aviation)#184

Biggest update is there is only 1 735 left N912UA, a former UA Shuttle bird in new colors...it's expected to be retired by the end of August

Wow. What do they do with just one 735 for the rest of the month? Is it still being regularly scheduled?

On a side note involving 737 retirement, MSP in Sept. will see Ted configured aircraft to ORD and DEN. Also MSP will see E170s, A319s, regular A320s, and 733s but obviously no more 735s.

What!?!?! Only 1 -500 left!?!? Nooooo.
I flew on 949 waaay back in the day, on one of my very first flights by myself, as an 18-year old.
It was one of the first flights I actually paid for with my own money!
Good memories.

Glad I made that quick trip from ORD to CLE this weekend on UA's 733s. That will likely end up being my final UA flight on a 737.

Its sad that the 737 classics are going away. The sound of their flaps extending and retracting is one of my favorite in the world!

Must have been *really* recently - I saw N913UA at DEN this past weekend.

As far as the lone 735 that remains, it seems to pass through DEN a lot. I've seen it on DEN-BIL, DEN-FSD, DEN-TUL, and a few others lately.

I know I'm not supposed to do "me too" posts but my last UA 737 flight was on a 735 ORD-CLE. I wasn't even supposed to be on that flight but I was trying to go ORD-IAD during a snowstorm in ORD and an IAD flight CXLD. I ended up connecting in CLE to get to IAD. The joys of non-revving.  Smile I never knew at the time that would be my last UA 737 flight.

Just from looking at the online UA schedule, looks like October 24. I checked a few west coast routes that have the 737 on it right now, and up through October 24, but each of the cities shows no 737s from October 25 and after.

cloudnine  checkmark  thumbsup  ESPECIALLY on the L-1011.

I've always liked UA's color schemes. I like how different they are from each-other, and yet how they keep some sense of continuity from one to the next.

The most recent one is quite pretty, although something about it bugs me and I can't put my finger on it. I think it has to do more with my feelings towards UA, though, rather than the C/S because if, say B6 had that same C/S (or if VX had it in red  cloudnine  Wink I think I'd love it.

Part of the problem is that it is a C/S that looks very good on widebodies, but the only narrowbodies that wear it well are 737's because the nose on the 757 and A320 sticks out too far. If they lowered and narrowed the cheatlines on the 75 and 320...

The Stealth colors would have looked nice with a different grey. That grey just was too flat. A more lustrous grey would have been beautiful.

63 Post contains links United1P : Thanks LAXintl There also seems to be a 49xx on some of the Ted planes such as N489UA http://www.airliners.net/photo/Ted-(...rlines)/Airbus-A320-232/
64 LAXintl : Yes 49xx were TED also, but I don't believe there are any operationally left. There will also be a 41xx forthcoming which will be former overwater TED
65 United1P : Is there any chance you happen to know when the first ex-TED overwater will be reconfigured (into a 41xx ship)?
66 RJpieces : How are they pricing it on the p.s. routes?
67 LAXintl : I believe pricing will be controlled by Aircell, but I am sure will be comperable with AA, Delta, VX on transcons. So a $9.95-$12.95 pricing point see

69 PWMRamper : Part of the reason United is taking FOREVER to repaint their aircraft is they have a VERY high fleet utilization, so pulling planes out of service jus
70 United787 : That is surprising, it was sounding like they weren't going to retire anymore 747s right now. New Livery A319 (4/55-7%): 801, 802, 803, 804 A320** (6
71 LAXintl : No UA's publicly announced plan was to drop 744 fleet down by 6 to 24 frames. Actually, I would also not be surprised if additional frames are parked

73 Post contains links C767P : N340UA was ferried 8/22, SFO-VCV for storage. http://skyliner-aviation.de/regdb.main?LC=nav4&page=2
74 SXDFC : Welcome Aboard! Don't you mean N535UA Mike!
75 Transpac787 : What did 49xx signify?? Also, what are the new ship numbers for the 757 fleet?? To the best of my knowledge, they are: 50xx - 24F/162Y 53xx - 12F/26C
76 United1P : Thanks a lot!! As LAXintl stated in reply 64, the 49xx tail number meant the same configuration as the 48xx tail number- regular TED A320 Y156. Howev

82 United1 : Also N913UA is no longer with UA, all 737-500s have now been retired.
83 The777Man : Really ?? Why ? I thought UA needed all aircraft now that the 737s are being retired. The777Man
84 United787 : Is that tail number N430UA? Surprising that they can afford to get rid of an A320 now! Does UA not like their A320s? Also, it appears as though they
85 Transpac787 : Ship# 5xxx denotes 757. 5430 is N530UA. N430UA is either 4830 or 4630, depending on what its interior configuration is (don't know off the top of my
86 LAXintl : There are 9 that have leases expire this winter that were part of a prior sale-lease back transaction. Would not be shocked if the agreements are not
