Information found in "Le Parisien" today:
Between 10PM and 6AM, some airliners will no longer be allowed to land or to take off from Paris CDG airport (ORY is already closed by night). Airliners concerned are 741, 742, 731, 732, 733, DC10 and Iliouchines. The Congress is supposed to vote this into law in the next days. Fines as high as US$11 000 could be applied if noise limits are reached (85 dB).

Here are a couple of questions:
- I see only American aircrafts on the list (plus some former USSR): are Airbuses really less noisy? Or is it part of the Boeing Airbus fight?
- Do other airports have the same regulations?
- In the article, they mention that these airliners will be banned from the european airspace starting April 1st, 2002. Is that true?
- If it is true, how would companies like AOM (already in bad shape) using mainly these airliners going to survive?

Thanks for your ideas.

For your question about Airbus a/c: Yes they are less noicy. The 731/732 are from the 60's and the first Airbus aircraft came out in the 70's but with the second generation of jet engines which are far less noisy then the first generation jet engines  Smile/happy/getting dizzy.

Just like birdwatching - without having to be so damned quiet!
