I have quite a long layover @ EWR on May 1. Thought I'd do some spotting (indoors) and have heard many mention gate 86 in C terminal. Just wondering if any one else out there has other suggestions.
Main interests in addition to the CO 777 procession are ET (Ethiopian Airlines), LO, OK, and Eva Air. Any suggestions?

I usually stick with gate 86. Ethiopian usually goes through a bit too early for sunlight to be ideal. Usually the sunlight at gate 86 turns ideal at about 1:00pm, and is fantastic at roughly 4pm. Of course overcast conditions could change the whole picture. You probably won't see EVA, as they might come in after sunset. You will probably see the Lufthansa and SAS processions of 3 aircraft each, BA 777s, CSA, LOT Polish, El Al, Virgin, KLM, maybe even Alitalia?

Yes Airnondo, gates 85 and 86 are the best spotting gates in all of EWR. As a CO employee working around those gates, I can tell you that all the spotters go there. Camera's, notepads, binoculars you name it. And a lot of the spotters are Europeans on long layovers. From about 12:30pm to 6pm all the heavies land from oversea's. And from 5pm on CO and the rest of the bunch depart for oversea's. A great shot is the VS 18 which departs for LGW at 6:30pm and then if your lucky the VS 1 lands from LHR around the same time! Also the CO 767-200's are a great shot! Have fun!!!

I think that Virgin Cargo is good too. Of course gates 85 & 86 stand for all the traffic. But if you're lucky enouth VirCar. can give you the best shots. Especially when aircraft are taxing on taxiway Zulu. That gives you about 30 feet from fence to aircraft. Some parking areas are good too. And if you ask people like J.P. (I hope everybody knows him here) he can give you the best spots. Just take a look at his pics.
