Per AP, plane is coming from Afghanistan. Is there pax service between Afghanistan and China and if so, who flies it?

FG operates KBL-URC

ATA - an honestly different airline.

Ariana might or might not fly Kabul-Urumqi. This uncertainty is because it is listed in its flight schedule and fare information pages, but information isn't forthcoming; it is not listed in its online booking system; and it is listed on Wikipedia. So, who knows for certain? Probably not even Ariana.  Wink

LOL

One would have thought that leaving Afghanistan, the pax's security concerns would have been left behind .... But then this!

For what it is now worth, FG was indeed scheduled to operate KBL-URC yesterday: FG331 was scheduled to depart KBL at 1130Z by the 727.

Appears to have been a Kam Air 767-222 (ex UAL N619UA).

Per CNN
""There was an aircraft that made a precautionary landing in Kandahar," Brian Naranjo, spokesman for NATO's International Security Assistance Force, told CNN. "But there was no hijack and no bomb."

However the airline president says that Kyrgyzstan refused to let the aircraft overfly enroute to China and that the aircraft diverted to Kandahar on the return because Kabul weather was poor. Also this was apparently the first flight on the route for Kam which would make me suspicious of whether all the procedural ducks were in a row for the trip.
