I live in North Raleigh and know RAL can be one of those stations that beat a story to death, even if it isn't much of a story. While an engine fire is certainly a very serious situation, it sounds like the 'witnesses' and those 'contributing' to the story really milked it for all it was worth - lol
I'll have to swing by the field on Monday and see if I can find the aircraft, possibly near the GA terminal. I would liked to have seen some photos from one of these yahoos. If they say the fire was the length of the airplane, I might have been inclined to grab my digital camera or cell phone or whatever. It seems everyone has their little toys until they need proof to back up their tall tale.

Milwaukee's WISN-TV (ABC Affiliate) reported that the aircraft took off from MSP, was immediately forced to turn around and make an emergency landing.... at RDU. Isn't that a 2 hour flight?! They also used file footage of a NW747.
