A very nostalgic question. After many attempts to re-start Pan Am, who currently holds rights to that name?

Pan Am Brand

See this page on Wikipedia for the basics if you want to know more:

They tried to do an airline with ex UA B727s but it didn't work out. When the airline was going downhill, they painted the Pan Am logo on railcars. Search the forum for some older posts.. pretty sad what's happened to a once proud brand.

Pan Am Railways, who was Guilford Railroad before. The same corporate umbrella owned Pan Am III and Guilford, and they made the tragic decision to rename Guilford Railroad into Pan Am Railways.

By this company, owned by the same parent company (Pan Am Systems, formerly Guilford Transportation) that operated the last of the several airline operations that used the Pan Am name. Not it's only a railway.

I'm not sure if they used some old UA aircraft, but I know they used several old Eastern aircraft. had this photo laying around showing them rehabbing an old Eastern Airlines B727. They just finished installing the winglets and type of hush kit that in combination allowed them to meet stage 3 noise requirements.

Heck, Pan Am Railways has been around just long enough that even they've gone "retro":

Or, if one prefers the more modern image as depicted in the boxcar photo above you might go for something like this:

I talked to a Guilford employee a few weeks ago and he confirmed his paycheck now reads "Pan Am Railways".
