I posted these pics in another thread yesterday that seems to have disappeared. I know there is some interest for interior pics of AA's 75L (Int'l 757). These pics were taken with my iPhone, so the quality isn't the best.

Currently AA's 75L a/c are scheduled between JFK/BOS-CDG, JFK-BRU, JFK-BGI and MIA-REC-SSA. JFK-BCN is currently scheduled to operate with a 75L on 19Nov09. The a/c can also be found on several domestic routes including JFK-DFW, JFK-MIA, JFK-SJU, and BOS-LAX, among others.

AA is planning for a subfleet of 18 75Ls. Currently, 10 a/c have been reconfigured.

Business class has 16 seats. The seats are nearly identical to those found on the 777 and 763.

The Business class seats on the 75L feature AVOD.

The seats are nearly identical to those found on the 777 and 763.

New Weber seats in main cabin with articulating seat bottom.

New lavs with curved doors for increased interior space.

There are a few more interior pix in this thread from February:

Not bad for I-phone pictures. A couple months ago I got a closer look at the first 757 converted to the new configuration, it was being used as a charter for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Huge improvement over the old interiors.

Do the coach seats have AVOD similar to the one of Delta's 757-200ER?

No. What a disappointment, too. AA has made it clear time and time again IFE money will go to the premium cabins only. The flight attendants have spoken until their blue in the face on behalf of the pax, but the company repeatedly responds with something like, "They bought the ticket, didn't they?" I respond, "This time? Yes. Next time...?"

There was an improvement in main cabin IFE, however. The system is digital and the old, over aisle CRT's were replaced with 17" flat screens, which provide a much improved image.

Isn't it amazing what a little bit of refurbishment can do to an ageing aircraft's appearence.

The new lavs...well done there!
the only 2 things i think I personally would do would be new ceiling panels and ofcourse AVOD for econ as mentioned. Of course maybe mood lighting wouldn't go astray?

Unless the plans have changed recently, it should be the following aircraft -:

5ES (N184AN)
5ET (N185AN) completed
5EU (N186AN) completed
5EV (N187AN) completed
5EW (N188AN) completed
5EX (N189AN) completed
5EY (N190AA)
5FA (N191AN)
5FB (N192AN)
5FC (N193AN)
5FD (N194AA)
5FL (N176AA)** completed
5FM (N177AN)** completed
5FN (N174AA)**
5FP (N179AA)**
5FR (N178AA)** completed
5FS (N173AN)**
5FT (N172AJ)** completed

The aircraft marked with ** were not ETOPS certified, so also need to have that done as well as the cabin modifications.

There is a long delayed plan to refurbish the domestic a/c as well. The project has had many start dates, the most recent being last October. Now, the program is expected to start next month, but of course, we'll have to wait and see. The domestic a/c will get the same coach seats, lavs and over aisle digital IFE found on the 75L, plus new domestic first class seats. Also, first class will be reconfigured with 24 seats, as opposed to 22 on the current configuration.

Quoting Viscount724 (Reply 11):

There is nothing that's black in either cabin. The panel behind each seat is gray, the seats themselves are blue and light gray, the carpet is dark blue and the sidewalls are slightly off white.

Looks really good, and makes the aircraft look a lot more modern!

The seats in biz/first, do to me however look a bit too big for the cabin and make it look a little claustrophobic up front!

Shame no PTV's or AVOD is installed in Y, but seems like it would still be a comfy ride...

I like the new interior, but no AVOD in Y is disappointing. DL for example has PTVs on many aircraft of their 757 fleet and it adds a lot to their international product. I believe they are still actively refurbishing their cabins. Does AA's new interior also feature inflight wifi?

These a/c won't get wifi, at least for now, as they will primarily fly over water routes where Aircell service is not available. It is safe to say AA is evaluating satellite systems for potential installation on it's international fleet, but there are no timelines for this -- it's simply being evaluated.

As for the domestic 757s, I would imagine they'll get Gogo at some point, but best I know they aren't currently scheduled for installation. Perhaps as they're refurbished they'll be outfitted with Gogo. Currently, AA has 15 762s and 85 MD-80s equipped with wifi, with another 65 MD-80s expected to be completed by October. The existing fleet of 738s will begin installation in the next couple of months, with the new 738s to follow early next year.

As I understood it, none of the 757s will be getting GoGo, since they do too much overwater flying, and will ultimately get some sort of a satellite-based system along with the 767s and 777s once that vendor is selected.

Looks good in J class... I've flown J on an AA 763 ORD-CDG-JFK which was an overall good experience, so looks like the new 75L will be on par up front. Sad to hear that AA has made little investment in upgrading its Y product.

DL and CO, AA's main competitor on these NYC-Europe routes offer a far superior Y product with AVOD, so given the same price most flyers logically would opt to fly DL or CO unless they are loyal OneWorld passengers.

Without pulling out my manual, I believe that's the oxygen mask for the jumpseat. The VCC (video control center) is located in the entry area at the 1L door.

Howdy,

Does anyone out there know what it takes to make an overwater 757 into an ETOPS 757? I was under the impression (incorrectly...apparently) that the ETOPS configuration was something that needed to be done at the factory level. I remember a few years back AA took the domestic 757 subfleet and modified to the overwater (non-ETOPS) 757 to reduce the subfleet (then consisting of 75W and 75ER's). This required a few items like life vests/rafts, etc.

Curious,

AA777LVR

No plans to use any of these on flights to/from Hawaii? It's a shame that airlines don't put more effort into this service. Although fares have remained quite high during most seasons, service has decreased as well as frequency in many markets. I understand that a lot of the premium passengers are UGs, but the lucky ones are usually the top tier premium passengers and often pay a high base price ticket.

I'm not asking for UA to bring back the polyester Moo Moo's, but I always thought the mai tai's were a nice touch.

Good times.
