The magazine "Airliner World" (Sept 09 edition) writes that EK will send an A380 to BHX for one day only, on September 9th, replacing the usual 777-300.
The event marks the 70th birthday of BHX airport.
It will be the first aircraft to use the new International Pier, which opens on that day.

Quoting MWHCVT (Reply 5): What time is arrival and departure scheduled?
It will operate the usual EK039 and EK040. Hence, its scheduled arrival time is 1235 and scheduled departure 1505.
Quoting MWHCVT (Reply 5): Any Ideas on best spotting locations?
I will be going to BHX by train and will probably walk around the car park near the terminal, use the windows in the terminal, and so on. There is a specific spectators area within the terminal, for which you must pay, but I believe it is nowhere near as good as it was a number of years ago due to building developments, etc, so I don't go there.

The blue and white Airbus A380 prototype F-WWOW "Cleaner Greener Smarter" was scheduled on a tour of the UK today doing flyovers at BAe and Airbus UK plants, Broughton, Preston and Filton where the aircraft will be spending the night. Departure to Toulouse from Filton tomorrow morning. I don't have the timing.
Some of you might have seen the aircraft during her flybys.
There was a better way to fly it was called Concorde

I've just arrived back from BHX after seeing the A380 there.
Quite a sight, and very pleased since BHX is my local airport! I'm going to be there on Wednesday too for the Emirates A380 arrival and departure. There were lots of people there today, many were impressed by the 2 fly pasts it performed, and most were talking about coming back on Wednesday too! Seems to have made a good impression

Very nice and nice to see F-WWOW doing the flyovers with all her landing gear down.
Crew did not do any "touch and go" did they? I suppose it was low flyovers?

Hoping to be there for the departure on Wednesday. I finish in Nuneaton about 13.30 so will take a leisurely ride over for a couple of hours before she leaves.
Question is - where best to go - golf course probably best of both worlds with wind direction, she'll probably rotate about 2/3rds of the way along though which means if it's 15 I'm shafted. Might just hang around Sheldon country park with the chavs and tramps

Apparently BHX will be seeing a number of vintage aircraft (as well as various retro schemes) tomorrow as part of the celebration for the Airports Birthday. There is a roumor of about 15-20 different aircraft coming into BHX (each of which is being charged a landing fee of £3.80).
Does anyone have a listing of which aircraft are due?
There is a very strong rumour going around that one of the aircraft will be a total surprise (to the point where the Airport have not divulged what it may be). Are there any guesses (educated or not) as to what this might be?

Having checked the Vulcan website XH558 is due to the Channel Islands from the 10th onwards. You never know your luck.
I will be at the reception at the new Pier tomorrow (as a guest!!!) so I will try to keep a listing of what comes in. No gaurantee though.
I'm lucky my job is my hobby
