The Ecuatorian airline has started selling tickets between Guayaquil and New York.
Flights will be daily, and commence on 7th December. They will depart GYE at 2.30 pm, to arrive at 8.40pm in JFK. The return will be a red eye flight, leaving JFK at 11.30pm to arrive at GYE at 5.30 am. Connections to UIO are also available.
This flight will be oeprated by a Boeing 767, an airplane type not currently on Aerogal's fleet. I am curious to see where it is coming from. Last year, teh airline took a 757 that was on lease to Avianca. As it happens, AV is just returning some 767s.

I believe that AV is in talks to purchase Aerogal? If so that would be great. Sure wish they would join SkyTeam...
Landing on every Continent almost on an annual basis!

Good for them. It's weird that they won't be taking another 757 though, for fleet commonality (number of seats). I guess the 767 will surely be coming from AV.

This additional aircraft for Aerogal is an ex B767 from AVIANCA. Currently parked at SKRG.

There has been a 763 at SKRG for some months now, but it never actually flew for AV -although it was meant to do so at some point under the registration N287AV -which was never actually even painted on the plane-. Before that, it was with OceanAir for its short lived long haul attempt at flights to MEX and some charters, under registration PR-ONB.
That plane started its working life flying for UA (N650UA) in 1992.
AV appointed BAe systems to re-market this aircraft a few months ago -stating that it would not be available until Q3 2009, whilst it has just been parked at MDE all this time. One has to wonder if Aerogal was given first refusal until now.

Aerogal has(had ) a former Avianca 757 which they had some type of accident with, the plane needed a major repair.

A 757 would be fine for service to JFK from GYE and points in South America like EZE, GRU and SCL. Unless GYE to Madrid or LAX are in teh cards a 767 is to much airplane for Aerogal. Madrid may be ambitious with LAN and IB already flying it.
