Attention all 747-400 fans, one is scheduled on ORD-DEN tomorrow as UA245.

For the life of me though, I can't find what flight it is scheduled to operate on the outbound?? Does anyone know?!?

Hm, Interesting.. do they do MTC on the 744 in DEN?? That might be why you can't see any flights tomorrow departing DEN on a 744.

Otherwise just a trip to one of UA hub airports were 744 are operated from.

Another possibility is training, as DEN houses United's flight training center.

UA has not used actual a/c for training since the 1960s, the first time a UA pilot flies a UA plane is when it is full of people.

Strikes me as odd, and a bit disconcerting.

Be that as it may, it's also quite common among carriers.

This type of ferry on the "whale" is quite often especially into SFO. Most of the times it's going into SFOUS for MX.

I wonder if this is the bird that I flew HKG-ORD on yesterday (8/17) we had an MX issue with the APU in HKG that they ultimately resolved by starting an engine with ground power and we were able to fly on, but made us over an hour late.

It is very common, and the Sims are that good they work exactly like a plane so you can be come qualified on an a/c with out ever stepping on board that a/c

Nope! a/c 8405 aka N105UA operated UA896/17AUG HKGSFO. The issue was fixed via ORDMX yesterday after it came in. It is operating UA895/18AUG SFOHKG UA869/18AUG* HKGSGN today.
