Hi, I was wondering if BA will start again the flight from CCS/LHR? Venezuelans miss that flight very much. It is a nightmare to fly thru other Europeans destinations if you want to go to LHR. Why they decide to leave when flights were packed? If they say, that all the revenue came from BOG, then start the flight from BOG and at least we Venezuelans have the choice to fly from Colombia.
Anyway lets hope someday we will see the 400´s at MIQ

Hey BA747, CCS was dropped because it did not have enough high yield Club/First passengers that BA traditionally aim for. And also because of the closer ties that developed with IB for LATAM traffic.
Saying that, I think BA's model has changed somewhat. Instead of chasing the corporate Business Class passenger nearly all the new long haul routes they are launching soon dont really 'fit' with the traditional model. Las Vegas, Madives and Sharm el Sheikh are all more leisure based and it seems BA is now chasing more leisure travellers to fill their Club World cabins. So who knows, maybe we will see a return to Venezuela.

Britain being so closely associated with teh evil " Yankess" , BA may want to stay away from Venezuela. Mexico City and Sao Paulo provide BA with solid cities in Latin America, Iberia can handle the rest.

That is one weird argument, not to name it something else. If BA sees a business case, they should go for it.
My bet is that BA won't be restarting the route anytime soon, maybe when the economy improves the story will be different. Also, 5th freedom rights between BOG and CCS would be great, since they didin't have those. They might want to go for a non-stop though, but I just don't see it coming. Specially if there is a BA/IB merger.
It is interesting tha BA isn't even codesharing with IB or AA to these points. It might have to do with bilateral restrictions, anyone have an insight?.

What about Buenos Aires and Rio? Plus, none of the destinations BA has in latin america offer extensive coverage of the region for connections. (MEX is pretty much mexico only, GRU is south cone only...)

Quoting 2travel2know (Reply 4): How about CCS-London traffic via POS? Not an attractive connection airport for Venezuelans?
MIA is more convenient since connecting onwards to LGW at POS would require an overnight stay in Trinidad on the return. BW will reduce POS-CCS-POS to a daily service instead of 10x weekly.

CCS is a good market for oil. May be in the near future.

GIG is doing very well specially in C/J because of oil & gas and strong (and growing) British business in Rio. I expect that BA by next year increase the route to 5x weekly.
EZE is strong enough with 9,000 passengers a month to run a 4x/5x weekly also non-stop.
In my view, BA can try LIM due to the LP hub there. South America can off set in small size the traffic demand lost in North Atlantic.
New York + Rio de Janeiro = One of the best combinations !

Rio and EZE would be good for nonstop operations but does the case exist for nonstop or continuing the one-stop. The slot situation at LHR may not be feasable for nonstop ops to these cities when the economy recovers.
