I just noticed today when boarding a CO flight, that many CO aircraft are now without the SkyTeam logo. I also noticed that they are removing the "Your door to the world is open" sticker by the main cabin entrance door. Clearly, they are preparing the aircraft for the transition into Star Alliance. Good move considering all the aircraft that they have to remove the SkyTeam logo from.

If you look at this month's issue of Sky Magazine, Delta has an insert after page 40 that talks about the new tier levels and Skymiles in general. CO is not mentioned as a partner on the list of airline partners.

It wont be long b4 we take those Skyteam pins off our uniforms. We still have lots of paper stock onhand that has the logo on it as well. Such as the Elite priority tags.

I'm sitting in EWR right now having just gotten off of tail#704 (73S), and I'm 99% sure I didn't see a SkyTeam logo either. SkyTeam, however, is still mentioned in the inflight Mag. The aircraft did, however, have the "your door to the world is open" sticker on it. I noticed that on the CO corporate documentary that SkyTeam is not mentioned though Star certainly is.

What will happen to all of the paper stock that's left over once CO becomes part of Star?

On another note, I was looking at my CO Onepass ff card and my CO Onepass Mastercard and noticed that both have the SkyTeam logo on it. Considering the economy I doubt we'll get new cards with the Star Alliance logo but was curious if anyone had heard otherwise.

Continental stops issuing 2009 Elite cards sometime around October for members who qualify or reach a new level late in the year, so it's likely that the first OnePass cards with the Star logo will be the 2010 Elite cards, which usually come out starting in February of each year.

I was flying from ORD to EWR about two weeks ago and there was a CO B737-524 being pushed back from the gate and I noticed that the SkyTeam logos had been removed from the aircraft. Being the CO'er and airline geek that I am I immediately sent a text message to another CO'er and fellow airline geek to see if he knew anything about it, he didn't. I've been keeping an eye out when I'm at EWR to see if other planes have had it removed but I have not seen any. I came to the conclusion that it was just that particular aircraft.

It seems a little early to be removing the logos but I guess Oct 27 is just over two months away. We all know time flies in this industry.

JacobCAL

P.S. I cannot be certain but I want to say that the acft I saw at ORD was ship 607. I'm sorry but I don't remember the full registration.

Just do a search of the photo database - many of the recent pictures are missing the SkyTeam logo. There's no point to keeping them on the aircraft when they'll be leaving in 2 months and it will probably take that long to get rid of all of them. They for sure don't want to be advertising SkyTeam after October 24 and I expect Star Alliance stickers to appear quickly starting October 27.

Cool, then my card will have the Skyteam logo. I think the status expires in Mar 2011. So I will have the wrong alliance logo on my card for like 14 months. Awesome possum.

I suspect "new" cards have neither or have *A by now. CO MC is issued by chase, so I am guessing they are the one who will re issue. Obviously, any card that is renewed next yr forward will have the new logo. I don't know that they'd "bother" since all cards expire in 3 yrs anyway. But they might.

After reading this thread I tried to observe, and from what I could tell, most aircraft still had the SkyTeam logo despite there being a number of aircraft--mostly narrowbodies, including the Q400 that I connected to--that lacked the logo. The exit is not for another two months so there's still time.

I guess you did not read the FCD for the removal of sky team logo and your door to the world is now open sticker.

There is a FCD for the removal of the skyteam logo and also one for the removal of the your door to the world is open sticker. This is normally done on the overnight checks.

and an FCD is

a Fleet Campaign Directive. I'm sure someone can give a more technical definition than mine, but it's basically a (sub)fleet-wide maintenance bulletin.

I've never heard of the FCD. Maybe its not made available to InFlight? Is that something I can access on coair? I check the Cabin Systems and Interiors (CSI) section on the InFlight website pretty regularly but have never seen anything related to the Fleet Campaign Directive. It sounds very interesting!

I sure hope they do. It is one of the requirements for being in the alliance. I think it may be like 1 livery per type.

A 757-200 will be the first to receive the livery at some point later in the year. Star Alliance stipulates that a certain percentage of a carrier's fleet (longhaul and shorthaul are the categories and each has a %) will be painted in the *A colors.

Expect the 772 and the 752 to get the Star livery since they primarily do international flights. A 764 and 762 may get it, while the 753 and the entire 737 fleet will probably not get a Star plane. However, there is a 739ER in the retro livery celebrating CO's 75th Anniversary.

Good to hear. Thanks for the info, guys. I'm aware of the 737-900ER in the retro livery, and I think it looks great! The Star planes, along with the retro 739, will add some diversity to the CO fleet. If only Peter Max was still around...
