Hey guys. My first post, have loved A.net for a while, finally decided I should join.
Anyway, one question that's been bugging me. My first flight ever was a non-stop from STL to SAN around May of 1996. I was 12, so my memory lacks one key detail. What airline would I have flown on? I do know it was an MD-80 type, because I remember the 2/3 seat config, and pretty sure the 3 seats were on the right side. I suspect it was TWA, obviously because of their hub, but could it have been somebody else? Thanks in advance!

Quoting Brilondon (Reply 4): I was wondering if there is direct service now from STL to SAN?
AA is pulling the single n/s on 11/19; they are the only n/s cx in the market. There is definitely O&D traffic in the market that should support at least 1 n/s so the hope is that someone might step forward and fill the void. (WN, to me, makes the most sense but who knows...)

Quoting Atrude777 (Reply 7): Does the illini in your screen name come from the amtrak route
, The Illini?
Your profile lists you as from Southern Illinois, but you asked this guy if the "Illini" in his screen name came from the Amtrak route (and not the obvious University of Illinois, which is in Champaign, of which the airport code is CMI which is in his screenname)??

Sorry to nitpick, but that just seems very odd. Smile
We Salukis (SIU-C in Southern Illinois) tend to ignore other Universities in Illinois
Especially when Bruce Weber left SIU for them...*grumbles*
Kidding!!! Well I am an avid Train fan also so when I read Illini my first thought was the Train and not the University especially since his group isn't exactly of the average college student, even though it says grad student...
and the poor guy, we are picking out his profile in public LOL
Anyhow..yes back on topic...

Quoting IlliniCMI (Reply 11): Back semi on-topic, did all the TWA MD-80's merge into AA's fleet?
I Believe they all did, because prior to the merger American had a fleet of over 250 MD-80's and after the merger they had a fleet of 350 MD-80's, TWA had 100 of those so it must be that they all went to American. Now the combined MD-80 fleet at American is down to 270 aircraft.
PS: I flew STL-SAN with American in 2005. It is needless to say it was an MD-80.
