According to GDS timetable listing and the airline route updating blog. I guess DL is starting to feel the pressure from AA and UA.

Interesting news. Do SU and DL codeshare on each other's JFK-SVO services? Maybe this allows DL to offer to its customers daily service even if their own flights are not daily.

Next flights: MEX-GRU (AM 77E), GRU-GIG (JJ A320), SDU-CGH (G3 73H), GRU-MEX (JJ A332).

DL doesn't even come close to finalizing flight schedules this far out.

They will operate the route on a daily basis. It is AA that is dropping out of the market for the winter and UA that has less than daily service.

DL also has 2 gateways to Russia plus a partner there.

Quoting WorldTraveler (Reply 2):

which has what to do with S10?

Quoting WorldTraveler (Reply 2):
UA that has less than daily service.

How do you know what they will have for S10?

Quoting WorldTraveler (Reply 2):
DL also has 2 gateways

1 gateway. Atlanta got cut

Quoting WorldTraveler (Reply 2):

how do you know this for sure?

I'm pretty surprised by this. JFK-SVO has always been rumored on here to be a very successful route for DL. I believe that ATL-SVO is also being reduced - I think I remember seeing on here that a couple of years ago this was one of DL's most profitable routes. How the times have changed. I would think that even with UA and AA entering the market that DL would be able to maintain daily 767 service on JFK-SVO, especially in the summer.

ATL-SVO is back for the spring/summer

JFK-SVO will be daily in the summer, barring some huge unprecedented dropoff in demand that would affect more than just Delta....

Again, summer schedules for 2010 are far from finalized; we are just finishing up Summer 2009 now, and even winter 09/10 schedules are still being adjusted/tweaked.

This competition DL/SU and UA-AA is oddly enough related to the situation with airports in Moscow.

The reality is that transfer from SVO to DEM and back is so hard, and may take so many hours in jams - that we have the following picture:

If people plan to fly out of MOW on UN or S7 - they will try to fly to MOW on AA and UA (or LH via Frankfirt).
If they plan to fly inside Russia on Aeroflot - they prefer DL or SU (or AF via Paris).

This is a rare situation when Moscow traffic collapse affected airlines.
It helped AA and UA a little bit - and struck DL to some extend.

Can they codeshare? I thought I saw somewhere that they couldn't because the governments don't have a deal worked out.

I thought it was pending the economy? (as in its not back for sure but its likely)

yep.

there's a difference from being in the same alliance and codesharing.
