new airline was founded in Rijeka, Croatia
Air Croatia will operate 2xB737 (yet unspecified version) and two Do328Jets
it is most propably renamed Air Adriatic which was also planned to start in Rijeka with two Do328Jets and 2xMD-80 (latter were not ordered, but were planned to be leased)
it should start ops in August with scheduled routes from Rijeka to Split and Zagreb as well as some international routes
however it might be second airline, Air Adriatic initial plans were to operate charters + some scheduled routes (Zagreb-Pristina for example) and start of it should be earlier
but if it is really delayed Air Adriatic the reason for scheduled routes only mentioned is that then is almost end of turistical season
also there are plans for start flying boat services from coast to adriatic islands, first service to Brac. the airline will most propably be called European Coastal Airlines. most propable fleet would be Grumman flying boats

hmmm.. 2x737 + 2xDo328 to operate from Rijeka to Split and Zagreb? are they for real? i think Rijeka is TOO seasonal destination + lack of locals who can pay for their travelling by air will make survival of this airline very questionable (if there is no major well established airline behind them).
anyway wish them a good luck.

yes, Rijeka in off-season seems to be to small for such airline, perhaps they will also operate from other airports
this would be the second airline to be based in Rijeka,
first was RPL Airports Rijeka, this airline ordered three Tu-134's from Luftwaffe but these were not taken up, reportedly due to miliatary sanctions(in 1992.) (however these sanctions did not stop Germany from selling Croatia plenty of MiG-21's  Smile
you can find photos of RPL's airplanes on
http://fly.to/aerocroatia
also it is not the first airline that wants to use that name
in the early nineties there were many articles in pres about airline which reportedly bought several Do-228's, two B737-200's and wanted to lease DC-10, several other types were also mentioned , including cargo Hercules
of course such airline could not start in small country like Croatia in the middle of the war
