I wouldn't be surprised that CI has serious thoughts about getting the A380-800.
The reason is simple: they need a plane big enough to handle the enormous TPE-HND, TPE-SFO and TPE-LAX traffic. It's extremely hard to get a ticket to fly CI to TPE even when using the 747-400 because there is such a massive ex-patriate Taiwanese population in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Hmmm, that's not nice, more then 500 lives involves in it, so I hope this will never happen, besides, CI's long haul flts r not bad at all, I heard some of my friend the US saying that Ci has a great long haul service, even better than EVA. But just the short hauls, hmmm, a bit danger I admit...

In a related story, Air China is also considering the A-380. However, they thought it would be easier to have one of their F-8s run into it, force it to land on Hainan and then take it apart and reverse engineer it.
The passengers and crew would be held for a few days for "questioning" and released after an apology from the A-380 operator for damaging their fighter.
