Wow!  Love That does look good.

Only one thing though: we'll never see it in the USA.  Sad The A340-300 is too small a plane in terms of seating to serve SFO and LAX.

It will be very interesting to see what European routes the CI A343's will be flying by the end of 2001.

Why do so many airlines who fly the A340 put so much less seats in it than its capacity? I thought for 3 class lay out 295 is the standard. Airlines like Lufthansa and others only have seats bearly over 200, why is that?

258 seating capacity abviously is a bit small, but i think the main reason is due to the sleepers seat installed and higher seat pitch for business class. Anyway, all these will be compensated for higher fares.

Jiml1126,

However, fat chance that CI will try to fly the A343 from TPE to JFK non-stop. They'll probably have an intermediate stop at mostly likely YVR.

So you mean CI will downgrade the Vancouver flight from 744 to 343, if YVR is a stop for JFK flight?

If it does, CI will operate daily 343 flights in off-peak season and also means that BR will be the only one to use 744 between TPE and YVR.

The 747-400 is certified for something like 622 pax (Yes 622) but there aren't any airlines with that either!!

CI currently makes a stop in Anchorage on the JFK-TPE flight with their 744s so it should remain the same with their 343s. Looking foward to trying it out when I go to BKK next year.
