It is their longest trip ever for any football game, according to the announcers. 2600 miles by road, 2022 sm in the air.
Meanwhile, I'll be doing AUS-DFW-DEN next Friday for the Texas-Wyoming game in Laramie, staying in Fort Collins and driving the rest of the way. Interested to see who does Texas' charter and where they fly into.
LAR has an 8500 foot runway but is at almost 7300 feet. LAR is also uncontrolled.
CYS has a 9270 foot runway and is at 6159 feet. Does have a control tower. Seems like a better option due to potential density altitude issues.
I'm guessing...Miami Air 738, flying AUS-CYS.

I wonder if it will continue since it was a mess. Two days before departing (wednesday) they got a call from Allegiant saying they couldn't do the original time, so they set a new time, but the plane was over an hour late. It was even worse coming back, by like 2-3 hours.

It is pretty awesome to see a 738 land on a runway that the 2nd biggest thing to land there was a G450.

- I understand the need to fly MIA to TLH but what about when U of Fla plays at FSU and vice versa? GNV to TLH is only 116 miles apart. Would it not be less expensive to charter three or four tour buses and drive? Jet fuel versus diesel fuel.
- What about when Purdue plays at Notre Dame? LAF to SBN is 82+ miles by air. Now, there really is no real good way to drive there (no interstates compared to U of FLa and FSU) but still seems off the top of my head to be less expensive and more prudent.
- What about Notre Dame versus University of Michigan (Ann Arbor)? U of Michigan versus Michigan State (Lansing). Those two routes would mostly be interstate travel. 118+ miles and 50 miles respectively.
- You could even through in there University of Illinois playing Northwestern?
