KLM will be reducing service to YYC to only 4 weekly as of Oct.

Was this planned or not?

On a side note, BA is slightly adjusting its service on the LHR-YYC from 25OCT09.

It doesn't strike me as odd. Calgary is a beautiful tourist destination in summer, but a lot less appealing in winter  Wink

Unless you like to ski! But even then, Whistler is MUCH warmer and more enjoyable than Lake Louise or any of the other resorts around Calgary.

One problem with only 4 flights a week during the winter is that winter is the busiest period for business travel, but those high-yield passengers prefer carriers with daily or close to daily frequency to provide more flexibility if their plans change. During the time of year when the highest-yield passengers are travelling, KL becomes a less attractive option compared to AC to LHR/FRA and LH to FRA (I think those are all daily services through the winter), or BA to LHR at 6 a week. With only 4 a week, there's too much risk that if you want to change your travel dates by a day or two, KL won't have a flight that day.

BA is remaining daily for the winter season.

No surprise there, since YYC has way too many flights to Europe. I wouldn't be surprised if KL suspends YYC or BA and LH reduces service.
