Hey A.netters. Help. Arrived home from SEA last night on YX 426 and as we are rolling up to terminal A - parked at terminal B is a Delta 763. I about jumped out of my seat. We never see wide bodies anymore at MCI except at the air cargo. I can't find anything scheduled to MCI with DL with a 763. Was it a sub ac? Just really curious. btw. . . it looked so beautiful parked there in the evening light. Sweet.

Charter. It's the Seahawks charter from Seattle for a little powwow.

The Seahawks played the Chiefs; it was their charter flight.

For the rest of the football season I believe all"what was that aircraft doing at ABC" can be answered with a blanket "it was a football charter".

Thanks much! I knew you experts would know the reason. Fun to see a big bird parked at one of the MCI terminals.

The Chiefs use the widebodies too, I think DL 763's also, so you will see it at least 8-9 more times at MCI just for the Chiefs, let alone visitor teams which may use that or other planes.

It's a crime they are no longer partnered with HA. It seems DL has a strangle hold on the NFL charter market for the most part.

Yeah, I rolled into MCI from ORD in 2005 (on UA) and to my surprise, there was a HA 763 sitting at the gate, the Oakland Raiders charter.

Why is it a crime that Delta has so many of the NFL teams? DL/NW will be flying 21 of the 32 teams this year! Delta is doing something right which the teams like.
SFO 49er's are back with Delta this year after experiencing a bad season with UA last year!

And nearly all of the NBA teams this, of course none of that had to do with Delta at the time since NW won the NW contract long before the merger but its now been inherited.

- The actual aircraft HA used before the 763 was either a DC10 or MD11 variant of some kind and when they flew in to Indy to play the Colts I would try to be at IND near the International Arrivals Building (where most of the large chartered airplanes were ushered to) to see. I remember HA put a Raiders logo on the sides of the fuselage close to L1 and R1.

- What airline do The Indianapolis Colts use this year? Back when TZ was flying, they would charter a 753 or one of the older L1011s. The Indiana Pacers chartered TZ flights as well (back then).

DC10 - Hawaiian never operated the MD11.

HA won't have the lift this year. Between regularly scheduled Heavy Maintenance Visits in Aukland and they will start pulling planes for winglets in September.

I just got done working that charter myself....it seems this year so far at least that i've noticed DL is having the planes overnight in the cities instead of fairy it back out and then fairy another one in the next day. As for seeing more 767's you will always see the chiefs once the season starts leave on a saturday and come back on sunday unless they go west coast then its out on a friday. I have worked many charters in my day let me tell ya the trunks are a lot of fun lol
