Hello everyone,
Looks like summer is coming to an end and fall is upon us.
Things will start to slow down like everything else in Turkish Aviation.
I have few things to start this months thread:
-Looks like TK is shifting some of its hub operations to other airports. We know this since TK wants to hire crews to be based in ESB and SAW. This will eventually ease the load of IST until a more permanent solution is in works.
-TK will start few flights out of SAW like; Rotterdam, Berlin, Cologne, Stansted, Moscow Domodedovo and Stuttgart.
-IST-ATH is going 3 x daily. Now that we have TK x 3, OA x 2 and A3, is there really a demand for this many flights between these two cities? Not to mention the newly ADB-ATH flights by Pegasus and TK.
-Let's keep an eye out for the 4th 773ER for TK.
-Any news on the newly started Jakarta flights?

As usual thanks to everyone for keeping these threads informative, civil and humorous.
It is a pleasure to have you guys as company on these threads.

Now, on with the news, rumors and suggestions..

Just wonder about the cabin config on TK fleet.

Those latest additional A343 and A332, from AIr Jamaica and Qatar I suppose? Are they all equipped with TK's standard seats? Both in Business and Economy class? PTV - AVOD?

Will they re-fitted with all A343s with the new first class suite? also with the Updated C class seats like the leased 773ERs?

Hope they add more and more route around the globe! Also make it to the West coast of the USA!!!

Let's just blame it on yields.

Hi there,
As far as I know, Qatar 332s are high density and they are not like the TK owned 332s. Same story with the JM 343s. If you do a search you will find some interior pictures of those birds. I know those 2 ex JM 343s will be around till 2014 with TK, so they might get a facelift to match the rest of the fleet. Qatar 332s were leased till 2017, so again they might get the same interior product in the near future to make all J/Y product consistent within the WB fleet, but again you never know.
About the First class suites that arrived with the Jet Airways 77Ws. The answer is NO. The F product will go away with the leased 77Ws in two years. Those will be replaced by TK owned 12 x 773ERs which will have J/Y+/Y products. Also 7 X 330-300s will have two classes. These new planes will start arriving in 13 months time.
TK to the West Coast USA, hey why not? Maybe with the arrival of 787s, wink wink!!

Jakarta has not started, first flight out of IST 03SEP. As a matter of fact, I'm sitting at the THY Louge at IST right now, was supposed to be on the CGK flights. They simply told me to get lost or fly to SIN, absolutely awful customer service that needs to be fixed. Onboard is a different story, greatly enjoyed my flights on the A330 (JND both ways). But TK *needs* to fix their ground services, absurdly rude and completely clueless.

I have 5 more longhauls booked with TK and will make Elite Plus, so far looking like a good choice.

As a FF with TK, I completely agree with you.

I have a suggestion to you if I may. Please do write directly to the CEO at kotil@thy.com. He does read the suggestions. And considering you are going to be Elite+, he will definitely be involved in resolving your issues.

That is terrible. I really don't know when they moved it from Aug. 30 to Sept. 3. TK seems to be doing this for new destinations. But to treat paying guests like this on these flights is unacceptable. If you write a nice letter, you might be Elite Plus sooner, or that should be the case.

The new International terminal opens at SAW in two months with a capacity of 25mil pax. and we hear more international flights out of SAW;
SunExpress will start Zurich, Hamburg, Nuremberg, Dusseldorf and Dortmund.
TK, now with SunExpress, is really going to make things harder for Pegasus at SAW.

I'm scheduled to fly out of JFK-IST on the 6th of Sep. which is currently operated by the A330. Am I to worry that this aircraft might be the newly acquired Qatari one? I'm concerned because I'm flying in J and was looking forward to TK's product as I assume they haven't updated the newly obtained aircraft.

About your 332, as far as I know, those two 332s are mainly used for India flights. Searching online I can only find their pics taken at TLV, Lyon and Nuremberg if that helps.

You can bet it has something to do with OA pulling out of JFK, JNB, YUL and YYZ in the coming months !
TK wants to attract customers who want to fly to these destinations to connect via IST instead.

Thanks! Fortunately my mom made it onto plane, that much I know, but I haven't heard from her so I'm not sure how the flight was or if her bags made it.

Thanks for the info on the aircraft...I'm assuming the newer 332s have a different interior than TKs? I'd be pretty upset if we ended up getting these. Is there anyway to find out the rotation and determine which craft will be mine on 9/6???

There is something to be said about the market conditions in Turkey. I am not sure this is really kosher as far as free market economics are concerned.
Pegasus was leading airline once the new airline opened in ESB .. The AnadoluJet brand by Turkish has driven them out of that market.
The same thing applies to SunExpress and Pegasus now at SAW. So now you have 3 different airlines codesharing among themselves , presenting themselves as different entities under the THY umbrella.

Do you know if TK comps status? From your reply I assume they do... I have LH Senator so it's not a big deal, but would obviously rather have TK status showing in my bookings for possible upgrades etc.

TK should also give their offices some decision making power, even with the mess regarding my CGK flights (IST-CGK cancelled before ticketing, CGK-IST after), their office here could not make any decisions without contacting Istanbul. And considering they interline with GA CGK-SIN, I find it totally pathetic they would not rebook me on that (the already ticketed segment that is).

Interestingly I had a proper 2-class 738 IST-HEL, I thought those would be doing longer routes like the once weekly IST-LOS which shows a 738 or other Africa/Middle East.

I am sure you will get one of their very own configuration.
the additional A332 and A343 are mostly used on European and medium-haul services like ALG, TLV, CMN, BOM, DEL.

JFK is one of TKs premium routes

About TKs new (and maybe shelved) flights to RTM, there were plans to do a fourth flight to AMS for the summer season (like for DUS and CDG at around 10am) dont know why this has not happened. maybe lack of A/C and they switched TK1951 to A343.

I dont know how smart it is to boost, nearly doubling, the capacity in the lowest season, hope they see a huge demand what we can not see....

Actually TK should close its offices. Has to be costing a fortune maintaining global ticket offices when such office have disappeared a long time ago from other airlines.

The 8 2-class 738s while primarily serving longer, and sometimes higher premium markets like FRA/LHR do rotate through the system including on domestic flights.

In the next few minutes flight TK 66 to SIN and CGK is going to depart from IST. As we know this is the first TK flight to CGK after it had been delayed 2 or 3 times...
Today it is being operated by A343. TK website only shows the flight being operated to SIN, CGK marks are missing - but the website www.dhmiata.gov.tr shows the flight operated until CGK, code shared with SQ. Is SQ code sharing to CGK or just until SIN?

I like these:
-"passengers traveling on our scheduled domestic and international flights will be able to select the seat they wish to travel in, in exchange for a fee. This procedure can be carried out either when purchasing their ticket or afterwards.
"Window 10 TL
Corridor 10 TL""

-If you should come across one of the above situations with a flight where you have a confirmed reservation and confirmed ticket on a Pegasus Airlines Flights departing from an EU country, you can profit from the Passenger Compensation and Care Service System of Pegasus Airlines as long as you go to the ticket counter during the checking period.

-Our expert staff is on hand to organise and operate any part of your business, whatever your requirements may be.

...attract more passengers from Australia to Turkey in cooperation with TG
