Cool, this was really fun! I remember seeing something similar, a jetfighter think it was a Eurofighter against a Bugatti Veyron! Anyway, i enjoy those kind of events!

The UK motoring entertainment show Top Gear pitted a Veyron 16.4 against a UK Eurofighter Typhoon over a standing two mile course. The car went one mile down the runway, turned, and came back while the EF climbed one mile, reversed itself, and came back down another mile.

When I read the title of this thread I thought for a moment they were going to jet-blast the Porsche, like they did with that poor Citroen 2CV on Top Gear...

Although I love both cars and planes and these events are for sure entertaining. I dont see how its even comparable racing something that weighs almost a half a million pounds EMPTY to something that weighs 3000lbs at most from a stop. I will say the 747 did very well im sure it was empty.

Quoting CCA (Thread starter): Would like to know if the 747 was empty and if they used max thrust?
I also wonder if the plane had a start point displaced some distance ahead of the car, because it looks like it. Anyway, here is a video of a SEPECAT Jaguar racing a Porsche 911 and a motorbike. Best bit is about 50 seconds in .

ANZ did that a while ago at AKL with a 747 and a formula 1 car I think? (feel free to correct me). I love these races and think it is greta publicity to the wonderful world of motors, mechanics and engineering. I am pretty sure that the plane would be on empty for gas otherwise it wouldn't make sense to weigh it down unnecessarily.

I think they do start at the same point, it's just because of the camera angle from where the person is standing. Cheers

Put it next to an F22 and we will see who wins from start to finish.
