Hi guys,
now with SkyEurope having ceased operations for a while, I was wondering what happened to their crews/ground staff as well as to their fleet. Who has an insight?
Thanks in advance.

Hey,
I am not an airline employee, but here is some summary of events.
The fleet was returned to lessors and mostly flown to BUD. Some planes already found a new home (some 73G started their 'new' life for ARG). Here in BTS employees are waiting for their salaries, some former staff are considering to file a lawsuit (as per daily newspaper). NE officially fired their employees and the Unemployment Office registered up to 500 new unemployed people. Currently it only keeps bare minimum during its Chapter 7-type procedure.
Some media reports that there will be/there is a criminal investigation (in Austria & Slovakia) as large sum of money (mostly from recent ticket sales) were transferred to some small northern Italian village.
The former CEO gave recently few interviews where he stated that basically the money which were promised by the investor (Focus Equity - up to EUR 16.5 Mil) were never available. However it expects/plans to resurrect NE brand and airline. I just question who is going to fly w/NE after such bad end/experience.
Finally, as I currently live close to BTS, the utilization of the airport drop significantly. The airport is mostly empty. Just a few charters, Danube Eings and RYR keep the airport somewhat busy. Drop in airport passengers is already evident (30-50%). The other main airports in Slovakia (TAT, KSC) have recorded drop in passengers as well. Additionally taxis, restaurants, and car rentals feel the drop. I worry that the construction of a new terminal will stop (due to the drop of passengers and recession cutting measure).
It is expected that by Spring/Summer 2010 BTS, KSC, and TAT will find replacement airlines to lost destinations.
