If you had a trip to Mexico, let's say Mexico City, Los Cabos, Cancun, or any other touristic destination and you had 2 choices of airlines, one Mexican the other American, which one would you choose? Not only for comfort but for fares, service and safety... Would it be the Mexican or the American?

Whenever possible, I like to fly international airlines. I have no fears about the saftey of Mexican airlines such as Mexicana, AeroMexico, and TAESA. Both AeroMexico and Mexicana have good fleets, and I have visisted their web sites and they look like quality airlines. I would probably fly a Mexican airline. However, I would have to fly an American airline to a city that has service with either of the two airlines. So I would fly an American airline anyway. For inter Mexican flights, I would probably stick with the major Mexican airlines. I might try a regional airline, just for the heck of it. It would be an interesting experience.

For flights into Mexico, I have flown Aeromexico, Mexicana, American, and Delta. Domestically, Ive flown AMX, MX, and Aerocaribe. Personally, I find the international service of the Mexican airlines to be better than that of the American airlines. Shorter flights dont allow much time for comparison...all airlines operate similar equipment with similar service, but on longer flights, Aeromex is really great. Ive flown both DL's and AM's JFK-MEX nonstop 757 services and wouldnt hesitate to choose Aeromexico. In fact, I would prefer AMX on that route. Domestically, I have also found AMX to have slightly better service than Mexicana. I used to fly MX because of the beautiful tails, but now I try to fly Aeromex dometically as well. If you're flying to MEX, PVR, GDL, CUN, MRY, ACA, or Los Cabos, of course American Airlines provides reliable, good service. If you get a chance, fly on Aerocaribe's F27s and FH227s before theyre all gone. I already have...what an experience.

So feel free to have my blessings for you flying on any other airline, mexican or not.

Never have I had RAW chicken served to me, a 727 that was as badly kept as a mexican bus, and FA's who were clearly anti american and hated doing their job and answering the requests of the american customers and they kept passing us over to serve mexican customers repeatedly.

God, I hate that airline.

Interesting...Mexicana served me raw chicken also. I was hoping this was a fluke, but I have heard you, and one other person on this forum mention this also. Mexicana once delayed me for 30 HOURS through a serious of screw-ups and bad luck. I don't feel like re-typing all the events this very second, but it was a nightmare. On the return trip I was delayed for a mere 3 hours. Needless to say, that has been enough to in general steer me away from flying them, but I think they are probably a quality operation overall.

I normally fly Aeromexico or Alaska Airlines to Mexico. Both are offer good punctuality and service. I think the Alaska Airlines Vacation packages are quite well put together, but they only fly to resorts on the Mexican Pacific coast.

I was afraid I was being too hard on them.

I can only judge them by my flights with them and two flights can be TOTALLY different than each other

but it seems that there does indeed seem to be a real problem (or was) with Mexicana with the chicken and the service.

I have heard good about Aeromexico as well.
