Im looking at flying from AMS - HUY next august, but have been really put off as its AUD$826 for a 1hr flight. Why is it that this flight so expensive? is it Airport Taxes in HUY or from AMS? I just dont get it!
In comparison it is $1149 KUL - AMS.
How can they justify these prices?

Not so much competitors on this route .

Otherwise, if you're not in a hurry and want to save the money, take the train. A return ticket AMS-LON by rail costs 99 euro (www.nshispeed.nl). Advance fares on the British rail network, from LON onwards, can come in quite cheap as well (www.nationalrail.co.uk).

One way usually quite high in Europe
My family live in the UK about 5 minutes from HUY in Wooton

You WILL get a better deal much closer to travel time for sure.

Twelve months ahead is a Long time.

As for the Amsterdam- Lincolnshire International well its the airports ONLY scheduled international service and gets quite good loads especially from the oil/gas industries .

Looking for a cheaper alternative via Amsterdam , you try Jet2 into Leeds then train to Barnetby i suppose

Also have a look at flights Amsterdam to East Midlands Airport. BMI Baby fly this route 2-3 times daily as a LCC they are likely to be a lot cheaper...

Depending on where you are travelling to in Lincolnshire, it could only be an hours drive away.

The problem with KLM at HUY is that they primarily parket the service as a feeder on to other destinations at AMS and seem to charge a premium for travellers just flying HUY-AMS.

You could even fly into and out of MAN from where an excellent hourly train service takes you directly from inside the terminal complex at MAN (you would arrive at Terminal 2 and don't even have to go outside!) straight to Barnetby. I use this service very regularly. You may find that with so many flights the fares to MAN are better and you may be able to spend a few hours watching the far more interesting aircraft at MAN than you would at LBA and EMA (and you don't have to battle with the traffic on the UK's shockingly bad motorway system).

You can even enjoy a nice pint at the Whistle & Flute at Barnetby station before boarding your train back to MAN!

It's a similar story for NWI-AMS... £400+ for a one way / return.
Try using it as a connection, onto another KL flight elsewhere, and the "add-on" will be much smaller...
