Sting's Plane Skids Off Runway

The Cessna Citation 5 private plane which Sting was reportedly aboard is shown after it ran off the runaway during landing at Florence airport, central Italy, Monday April 30, 2001. Sting was reported to have disembarked from the plane unharmed with the pilot. In the background are fire trucks.
Sting's plane skidded off the runway at Florence's airport Monday night, but the Grammy-winning musician walked away unhurt, Italian news reports said.
Sting, a friend and two pilots were aboard the Cessna Citation 5 when it went off the runway and through some safety netting before coming to a stop on a grassy knoll, the ANSA news agency said. The cause of the accident was under investigation, but ANSA suggested the brakes may have malfunctioned.

Sting walked off the plane and drove with his friend to his home in nearby Figline Valdarno, ANSA said. The singer was flying in to the airport in Florence after playing a date in Austria. Sting, his production manager, and the plane's pilot were unharmed in the incident, and a spokesperson for Sting told LAUNCH that he was fine and enjoying a pasta dinner afterwards.

Thank God for that. I for one would have been very upset had something worse happened. Sting is one of my favorite musicians(probably my favorite) and one great humanitarian. I'm glad he was able to have his pasta dinner. Hopefully washed down with a nice Chianti.

In a more intelligent manner Bove, could you tell me why you feel that way about Sting???? You obviously are a "REAL" idiot. OOOPPPPPSSS!!! Sorry.......not really

Sting is in love with himself, plain and simple. Where did this idiot get the idea that having Cheb Mami bleating into a microphone during a Jaguar commerical was music?  Insane

checkbook music; open the wallet and hire some jazz players and he thinks HE'S a serious musician. I agree with Bove; he is in love with himself. His ego probably caused the runway to buckle.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Bove & Cicadajet........sorry guys....you are allowed your opinions but I'd like to see you do what Sting has done for 20+ yrs. If he was a flash in the pan then he wouldn't still be at the top of his field. You obviously aren't people of good taste. Too bad.

Don't get me wrong...I am a big Police fan and I will concede his early Sting stuff ('86 days) was quite catchy...but lately he has convinced himself he is god's gift to music. His ego could carry that little Cessna into the moon's orbit.  Smile

yeah, the Police were fine. What did Sting really do after that? If I develop insomnia I may go out and a couple of his "solo" cds.

IMHO, the "Desert Rose" video (with Cheb Mami bleating away in the background) was really over the top. Sting was making a true ass of himself, blabbing on and on to the cameras about how he was finally able to express himself...the video is one long advertisement for a Jaguar!!!
