I didn't see any post on this,so I thought I'd put it out there...

On Saturday, 9/19, I was at a softball tournament in Madison and saw a US A321 on final to MSN. Since US doesn't serve MSN, I was wondering if anyone had any idea why this plane was landing in our city (medical/equipment/weather diversion?). Just curious...

Regardless of the reason, it was a nice site seeing a mainline other than DL/NW flying in.

Looks like a US A321 came in from GSP on 9/18 then left on 9/19:

Also, a A321 from PHL came in on 9/19: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/AWE9087

On 9/18 A321 went to CLT: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/AWE9071

Not sure what all this means, but...

Here is the departing flight:

Most likely flying the Wofford football team (opponent to Wisconsin Badgers) back home.

JettaKnight- That makes sense.. I assume the flight to CLT was bringing the charter out of MSN for other flights, then the flight from PHL was to pick them up.

It was for Wofford playing Wisconsin. Here is one of my favorite threads regarding College Football Charters each week.

Thanks, everyone...

I forgot about the Badgers v. Wofford game. Makes perfect sense.

Most teams going to play the Packers will fly into ATW and then on departure, fly out of GRB.

Bengals are also on DL and usually fly the 752 or 763.

If they feel like a 3-1/2 hour drive sure. They have OSH, ATW, GRB all within an hour of Lambeau Field. Most teams hotel is in Appleton (1/2 hour south of Green Bay) at the Paper Valley Resort.

...and it looks like their drive to Green Bay is going to get a little faster:

Sept. 22, 2009 7:38 a.m. | Madison - The state Senate is set to consider a bill Tuesday that would allow NFL teams to run red lights on their way to Lambeau Field in Green Bay.

The bill would permit police to escort any vehicle processions through red lights.

No big deal as long as you have enough cops in cars or bikes and they know what they are doing. The NOPD and JPSO down here in MSY has been doing escorts and running red lights for NFL teams for decades and never had a mishap on one of them that I can remember.
