Ran a search and didn't see this anywhere else.
Mexicana and the oneworld alliance have officially set the date for Mexicana to join and begin offering full member benefits. The date is Tuesday, 10 November 2009.
On that date, Mexicana will join oneworld as a full member and its partners MexicanaClick and MexicanaLink will join as affiliate members.
There has been some delay in getting Mexicana into the alliance - they were originally supposed to join officially in May - due to, from what I hear, were some issues with technical systems, training, marketing program coordination, etc. Nonetheless, this is very good news for oneworld, as this bolsters their already strong leadership position in Latin America anchored by AA, LAN and Iberia.

Congratulations Mexicana. I was part of the original team that worked with them in preparing them to join STAR. Great airline and a good addition to Oneworld.

I am very happy to see Mexicana join Oneworld. My past experiences with Mexicana have been very positive. They are very professional and flying them reminds me of the good old days of flying. My next flight in on Christmas Eve from SMF to GDL.

Will MX pick up routes where AA might be weaker and MX could do better? I.e., AE on
DFW-GDL and of course AA would codeshare? MX has great flexibility with their a/c compared to the majority of North American carriers. IF AA only sees GDL needs ERJ's maybe this could be improved by putting MX on the route twice a day with the Airbus and start it out with the 318. Just a thought.

AA is increasing DFW-GDL capacity itself this winter, with the return of mainline M80 aircraft for one of the two flights. I expect the other daily flight will also be upgraded to an M80 at some point as the Mexican market recovers.
