How'd you get up to the tower? I haven't been up there since they allowed school field trips to all of the airport facilities (US's hangars, the terminal, etc.), and the tower at BVI ain't all that whoopie unless you like staring at Diamonds, Pipers, and Cessnas  Wink

Wow, I am able to identify 3 of the birds in that pic.

Note the photo gallery in the link PITops provided.

Also, the airport's latest newsletter is out:

It has a few more photos of the JAF pre-summit visit a few weeks ago, plus AF1

Also, with Emirates flying the A-380 to YYZ and JFK again soon, looks like they want to use PIT as an alternate if required.

Last I checked, we're not A380-ready. What new rabbits will the ACAA pull out of their hat for this one?

I don't think it would be a problem. We have the runways, ramp space, and int'l gates. No need for an upper level jetway to handle a diversion.

I think 28L/ 10R would be good enough to handle the A380. In most cases, diversions are just gas and go's anyways so people wouldn't be exiting the plane. There is a dual jetway at the end of C. I don't know if it could be used for the upper level or not. I would assume it could. I would think we could handle it.

I wonder if they will bring one in for a test run one day?

I think its only a matter of time before one shows up here on a diversion. LH will be using them to both JFK and IAD, AF to JFK, QF might use it one day on their QF 107/108 service extension from LAX-JFK. Many are to enter service in the next few years. Next summer JFK's longest runway will be closed for reconstruction. I smell many diversions!

Quoting Steeler83 (Reply 16):

They did; even Oshkosh, WI had one a few months ago on an 8000x150' runway, even though it was light.

Thanks for posting your awesome pics!

For the benefit of those who were not able to be in the area during this once in a lifetime event, I would like post a few additional pics from some different angles, etc.

My pics are photo 101 (kindergarten actually); not a professional photographer. Therefore, I haven't posted the same subjects/angles that TarmacPhotos, the ACAA, and the Tom Pawlesh sites have posted. However, I hope these contribute to the overall atmosphere of the event. Thanks to the Resurection Cemetary, PA State police, Eaton Corp, and US Airways SOC for some great angles and a wonderful few days.
