Hello!

According to different soruces from Zimbabwe (e.g.: http://www.tourismupdate.co.za/NewsDetails.aspx?newsId=20614 ) a new airline is set to launch service in the region soon: Vicfalls Airways. However, hardly any facts can be found about this airline others than those mentioned on the airline's provisional website.

The inaugural flights shall be operated by B767-300 and B737 (second generation - meaning NG? or -300/400/500?). However,according to the website ( http://vicfallsairways.com/Aircraft.html ) there are plans of aquiring quite a large fleet of aircraft from all major manufacturers to open an extensive route-network.

All this sound quite ambitious. However, I am sure the region could definitely use a safe and reliable airline.

Does anyone have more specific information about Vicfalls Airways, e.g. the exact identity of the B763 and the B737 which are planned for start up? Is a date for the inaugural flight already known? Which routes will be the first to be flown?

Any information about this new airline is highly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help and best regards,
Mike

Also announced today (spotted on Peanuts email Newsletter quoting businessday.co.za) was Zambezi Airlines planned scheduled services as follows including JNB->Livingston (just the other side of Victoria Falls, for those looking for an option)...

Zambezi Airlines, a Zambian start-up launched in Jul-2009, announced the following details of its planned scheduled services (businessday.co.za, 28-Sep-2009).

Lusaka-Johannesburg: Twice daily;
Ndola-Johannesburg: Four times weekly;
Livingstone Johannesburg: Three times weekly;
Lusaka-Dar-es-Salaam: Three times weekly.

Problem with Zambezi Airlines is that the airline is included in the blacklist of the European Union banning the airline from potential flights into EU-countries because of concern regarding airsafety. So I am not sure if I wanted to fly on this airline...

I don't know about you guys, but I don't think that any airline should have the name 'falls' in it, especially when the first part is Vic, which makes it already prone to jokes like, "It Falls" ...

"Vic," on U.S. crime dramas, means someone who's been killed.

So yeah there's a lot wrong with that name.

HI!
I was thinking just the same... I wouldnt fly in anything with "FALLS" written on it! Even if its an amazing place like Victoria Falls...
I just saw the website... I looks like some of those fake airlines to me... Just my opinion...
