Did US receive any new A321s recently? Also, are they using the -321s on the PHX-ATL route? That used to be an A320....

US received 8 321s in 2008 and so far 11 in 2009.
I believe that they do use the 321 on at least 1 flight to ATL.

They have an A321 running PHX-ATL-PHX, it's flight 610 out and 35 on the return.

IIRC US will get 4 more A321 this year for a total of 15 for 2009. There are more on order, but off the top of my head I do not know how many remain for sure (25 stands out to me) for the next 3 yrs. I say this because I do remember that there were 40 or 41 on order when they exsercised some options and converted a few either 319 or 320's to 321's.

The 321 is a sexy looking airplane for sure, and I think it looks ok in the new colors. But, I thought the 321 looked more stunning in the old US Airways paint.

I think they should bring back the special paint schemes to the 757's or the A321's.

A 321 is a great choice for US domestic network. It has the right capacity and range .

It is indeed a sexy looking aircraft especially in the US livery.
Yet again one brand new aircraft flew by my office window in HAM to do flight testing. Always nice to see a US airlines domestic equipment over here!  Smile

I work for US here in PHX and get to see these beauties as the arrive on the ramp. The interiors are flawless!

I really think the IAE engines on the "West" Birds help streamline the whole shape, the CFM's on the "Easties" make for a snubby appearance.

Ok, wait for the RJ to pass, cleared to push tail south Mike, and you're cleared to spin #2 in the push.

I think US received only 5 321s in 2008; 193, 194, 195, 507, and 508.

I am assuming that a new US 321 just got delivered today...A US 321 flew BGR-PIT a few hours ago.

Are they retiring other planes as they bring in the new A321's? Will they be hiring anytime soon?

Probably N536UW. Supposedly this will be the first IAE-powered A321 for the East fleet.

537 was delivered ahead of 536. Will be in Pre-Ops until the 3rd.

737's are being retired for sure, mostly 733 IIRC. They had already shed some of the 757's, do not know if they will shed any more. I do not think so, as I believe they are operating at or near the minimum they needed for their ops.

I have no clue as to hiring.
