hi all,
looking at the fleet of TCX, it seems that most of their a/c seem to be getting rather aged. their Boeing fleet of 763's and 752's really seem to be getting on a bit, and their especially shabby on the inside. looking at the ages of the a/c, an order now to replace these birds would fill the gap, given that delivery times for similar a/c is 2-3 years. Now their Airbus fleet is fairly new, although some of those a/c - an A320 - is being retired soon. so, what are tcx looking at to replace these Boeings', and aging buses? Have they made any substancial orders? or are they going to just do interior refits and enhancement winglets? also, what do we all think their fleet renewal would look like? A320s? or maybe some 783s?
Thanks

I don't know much about this particular airline, but I do know that sometimes all it takes is a new paint job and a cabin refurbishment that could give one the impression that your on a "new" plane.

Compared to some other aircraft used on the same routes as TCX by competition, they are not by any means about to be replaced. There are some much older and well used B757's and A320's, not to mention a good smattering of Boeing 737-300's around.

Quoting ACEregular (Reply 3): Why did you choose to post this about TCX?
it seems that for a UK charter company, given the fleet enhancements by thomson airways with the 787 as well as Monarch, thomas cook are lagging behind with customer satisfaction of in-flight experiance.

As one of the UK airlines to be posting a profit as an airline.. the current fleet appear to be operating in line with expectations.
With regard to TUI and the 787 - rumour has it that they are actually quite desperate to ditch the order but are heavily tied in and can't get out of it..especially in the UK climate.... rumour only I stress.

I think TCX's issue is replacing the 757... its a very versatile aircraft that has the ability to do Short/Medium and Long Haul (Especially with the Canadian Affair flights on the ETOPS Verified Aircraft)
I can see TCX giving there 757's a refurb... but maybe dropping some of the older machines such as G-JMCF and other's which are past or approaching 20 years old.

I hope so! Most of the legacy Flying Colours 757's (G-FCL... machines) have decent interiors with small TFT's which collapse abouve the seats from the panels below the overhead lockers.... most legacy JMC Air aircraft's have the old-fashioned TV's which are ceiling mounted. Maybe they could upgrade there 757 interiors like TOM have in the past!
The winglets would work really well for TCX especially since they work their aircraft around the clock in the summer (spending normally no more than an hour on the ground) The wingles would pay for themselves in fuel savings alone!
Especially on there longer routes down to the canaries, egypt, turkey, cyprus, etc. etc.

Nonsense. TUI have renegotiated their 787 order purely because the need for longhaul in the European market has not materialised as expected. What would you expect Thomson Airways to do if it did not receive 787s soon? Keep flying around 767s that were built in 1991 and 1993 forever?
