Two New 73Gs For FL (possibly)

As some might already know, FL has been selling some 73Gs that they have on order to Arik Air immediately after delivery. Well apparently, Arik has been unable to come up with the financing for two recent deliveries and FL might be stuck with the planes. The two 73Gs, now registered as 353AT and 354AT, were flown to MCO without winglets in Arik colors from Boeing Field. Then they were sent somewhere to get winglets installed. Their delivery dates are listed as 9/23 and 9/25.

That's all that I know for now but the fact the planes are now listed on the company fleet list makes it seem like they are staying with FL.

Anyone know the plans for these two birds? I guess FL could be trying to sell them to someone else.

Interesting. I wonder what they'll be used for. Still hoping for Costa Rica  crossfingers

I think it would be a for sure money maker for FL. They have lots of opportunity down south, and I would like to see more island flying by them too.

And to stay on topic, FL could use the planes for sure. Not only that, but the paint sure looks great on the 73G!

The planes have rejoined the AirTran fleet. They still need to have XM and GoGo installed (maybe winglets, too), however. Latest rumor I heard was Montreal and St. Thomas are next.

Why would FL serve YUL when they don't even serve the bigger fish to fry, YYZ, yet? STT sounds very reasonable, though, with the recent Caribbean focus.

Still hoping for FWA or another small/midsize heartland city, though...

I don't work for FWA, their tenants, or their ad agency. But I still love FWA.

A few corrections -

They were always registered 353 and 354AT right from the start.

They both left BFI with factory winglets already fitted. 353 went BFI-MCO-ROW as TRS9353, 354 went BFI-ROW as TRS9354.

Does this mean FL is putting them in storage for later use when the economy picks up again or are they just putting them in storage for Arik Air?

The answer to that question I do not know, sorry. Gut feeling tells me they'll go to Arik once they pull their fingers out of their arses.

According to Skyliners N353AT got repainted at ROW and flew down to MIA on Friday. Guess FL is going to put it in service. Where does FL have the XM and Gogo wifi installed on their aircraft at? I thought it was at the Live TV facility in MCO.

I think the Gogo wifi is installed at the Atlanta hanger for the most part. Coool development. The additional 737's is certainly needed and might speed up some introduction of new routes. But maybe these will be doing the Detroit sub services?

I would think the new two planes could be used to fortify MKE or help the strength of BWI. Adding Caribbean services is also a very real possibility. Personally, I would like to see FL make another run at IND..... or at least bring back IND - LAS.

What's the Detroit sub services? I'm not familiar with this.

I'm curious if this service would be ex-ATL, BWI, MCO, or MKE or combo thereof? I'm thinking BWI and MCO since I don't see FL making much money on transcon cnx via MKE from YUL, which already has n/s svc to LAX, SFO etc., where FL could connect via MKE...the only major western markets without n/s are SEA and PHX so far as I can tell.

Now that I think about it, I believe FLL is a bigger market from YUL than MCO. Also, ex-Canada flights tend to be point of sale Canada heavy; there's a reason YUL is not served mainline many US airlines (I believe only AA right now, right?). This will probably be as big of a money loser for FL as YUL was for J7 back in the day.

I say they stick with Caribbean and Latin American expansion.

Actually FL has a n/s SEA-MKE daily flight that will stay thru the winter months while the SEA-ATL flights will drop off for the winter and with AS starting SEA-ATL in addition to the numerous DL nonstops, it wouldn't surprise me if FL does not resume the route.

It was. This time, it's probably a result of DL/NW's decision to pull their 2x daily nonstops out of the market, leaving only WN on the route. If so, smart move on FL's part.

Another board says that IND-LAX may return in May, too. That would give DL some needed competition.

Sorry, I meant n/s from YUL. YUL is only missing n/s to PHX and SEA for major western markets that FL can connect via MKE.

Are these planes actually going to go into service or are they going to try and sell them? I was under the impression they were not adding any new planes to the fleet until 2011.

25 FlyAA757 : shame they don't keep them in Arik colors with AirTran titles. Would look a lot better than the crappy colors FL wears now!
26 AirframeAS : They were never with the fleet to begin with. I believe these are spanking brand new aircraft making them new additions.
27 UGA777 : It looks like they are going to ROW. Is this for storage? Can anyone confirm whether they are actually going to Airtran or eventually another provider

33 FL787 : On what planes? And why did they start adding new cloth seats to the 717 if they are going to be replaced quickly?
34 Uga777 : Do you know when these planes will go into service and which routes they are scheduled for initially?
35 TZTriStar500 : The seats do not have to be replaced if going from cloth to leather seat covers.
36 Gr8SlvrFlt : It's expected to take several years to complete fitting out all planes with leather in coach. I believe 737s will get them first.
37 FL787 : I know, but if they are only doing covers then it seems like the new seats that they just put on the 717 should be leather. Ok thanks. I haven't hear
38 Atlwest1 : I think the first 2 will be out on friday. I think its like 1 737 and 1 717 it should be new seats and the cabin will be touched up I believe. Plus I
