I was looking to travel from Singapore to Bangkok over a weekend. A search on Zuji showed that many cheap fares were gone. However, I noticed an AI codeshare flight with SQ. Interestingly, the AI coded seats were selling at a lower price than what I could find on SQ website for the same flights. And when I logged on to AI website, the same flights cost even less with the absence of an agent fee.
Hence, I booked the tickets. As the tickets were issued by AI, I will need to contact AI should I require any customer service. At the same time, I was not able to select my seats as I would have been able to, had I booked direct from the SQ website. At the same time, I also cannot do any internet check-in as I was informed by SQ staff.
Appreciate if anyone could advise me if there is a need to reconfirm this booking both in SIN and BKK, since it is an AI coded booking operated by SQ.
I have put in a seat request and found that I should be able to earn mileage for my Krisflyer account. However, till now, I have yet to receive any reply from AI for the information which I put through the AI website after the booking was done. Am wondering if I should leave things as they are till I reach the airport and hope that my bookings are intact (not cancelled due to non-reconfirmation), seat requests met and frequent flyer mileage account updated.
Appreciate if anyone who has booked AI codeshare flights on SQ could offer some comments about the issues mentioned. Thanks.

You cannot do internet check in as your booking is with Air India. Any changes etc will have to be directed to them and not to SQ. Therefore you can only get your seats at the airport check in. At time of check in, ask the check in agent what booking class you are booked in on SQ. You will not know about this till then. It will also depend on what frequent flyer programme you are crediting this to. You can only credit the flight to which Air India is a partner of its frequent flyer programme. It does not matter if SQ is one of your partners.
The booking class to which SQ gives you is also what matters. Your cheap Air India ticket may eventually end up being booked onto N, Q or V class on SQ which means you won't be able to earn any miles. Doesn't matter if your AI flight is booked in say, Y class.
You do not need to reconfirm flights but do give your destination phone number to AI should they need to contact you.

Or by phone, no? I often fly on AM flights booked on DL's website and it only takes a quick call to AM for my seats to be assigned.

Its a bad idea...you book on SQ expecting a new 777 or 330 and endup in a 20 yr old 310...with no IFE ... let alone ontime dep....wonder why would SQ get into such a deal...Kingfisher would be more the profile for an SQ customer...
